Strange that rape took such a weird upwards turn. Wonder if it's just something out there or a bad sign of something.

Personally I think the media has something to do with THAT problem. Thoughts?

I have said this before about rape, there has always been more rape than people were led to believe but it just wasn't reported much. Now however since it is being reported not only is there a percieved increase but it is also causing an actual increase. The more rape we see and hear about means the more people may feel they can fully commit themselves to rape, that is especially true when they hear about rape cases that are never solved.

Add to that the fact that rape cases are probably reported far more often than before and I am wondering why the increase isn't higher.

I think it has more to do with the mixing of sex and violence in our culture in general, and it's everywhere

I don't really buy this "blame the media" business. Maybe it plays into it a bit, but I find it more likely that we're just catching more sickos than usual.

Yeah never really thought about that but it makes sense, too. And like The Mullinator said, probably more reporting of it. Kind of weird how much there is.
