Go to EBGAMES.com they have 'Music & Party' I knew party games were already a (small) genre, but do music games FINALLY have their own? DDR, all those karaoke, GH have their own?

Do you think there needs to be a music genre or not?

Yes. The gameplay is far, far removed from all other genres. But the rhythm/music game genre has been around for a few years (remember Amplitude on the PS2?), and it's only now that it's moving into the mainstream.

I'd say music games are a sub-genre of rhythm games, but since the "music" games are far more prevalent than the "rhythm" games, it makes sense to name the genre after both.

It definitely has a place as a distinct genre. The fact that we will see Patapon on these shores soon is a testament to its undeniable power. :bounce:

Parappa the Rapper? I played that game soo long ago. Was that a rythm game?
I sucked at it.

I'm going to buy rock band.

'Kick! Punch! It's all in the mind'

The Wii is getting a Parappa sequel :)
