Its weird how smells, sounds and....music, can bring back memories so clearly.

Ive just put on the Stereophonics song Maybe Tommorow, and it will forwever remind me of when i went to blackpool in the summer. The song had just been released, and while we were there, the radio station(Which is played on loud speakers throughout the Pleasure Beach) played it almost every 10 songs, not that i minded because its a great song after all. Anyway, it was a great day. I went with my friend, and it was the first time i'd been in about 10 years so there was a lot i wanted to do. We started on the smaller rides, gradually building up to "The Big One" which was qutie frankly amazing (First time i'd been on it :D). It was probably one of the most fun things I had done that year. The weather was great, almost 30 degrees Celsius. I had finnished my first year of collage, been to San Francisco, and met several new friends at a Christian Camping thing. It was one of those perfect days in your life when everything is just right and on that day nothing in your world makes you sad. Something that was certainly new for me, people on the pleasure beach noticed me, before then i was always one of those shy people who never speaks, is generally quite plain and nobody really thinks much of). I was wearing some new clothes that i had bought from America, so that was different but not only that, I was generally feeling great about everything and i had a confidence about me that was wonderful. I actually got talking to a big group of attractive girls that day, something that i would have simply never even hoped to do. We went around with them for a short while which was great.

Anyway, you are probably wondering why im saying this. Its good to share experiences and i was wondering if anyone else has any songs that bring up strong memories, whether they be good or bad.

wow sounds like a great day out.

there are lots of smells that remind me of different things. example, the smell of milk going off reminds me of my primary school (don't ask). there are a couple of System Of A Down songs that remind me of the first time i was with a woman, kind of odd i guess. there's also a song by The Eagles called Witchy Woman, great song...but it reminds me of my ex, who i very much despise now..***ins a very good song.

i definitely remember a lot of the music that played when i was doing stuff.
i remember some weird stuff like during summers in elementary school when i was playing computer games--kinda strange because i ended up associating certain games with specific songs that happened to be playing on the radio, and i ended up associating age of empires with dido since the first cd i got was dido's "no angel" so i played that all the time.
some songs remind me of middle school graduation.... that "graduation" song by vitamin c or whatever (heh, i used to listen to different music than i do now) and "i will remember you" (sarah mclachlan).
then the yellowstone trip i went on a few months ago... probably not far enough away to really count it as a good memory, but i listened to the radio stations in salt lake city when we got delayed at the airport for about 4 hours and audioslave's "i am the highway" must have gotten played on about 3 different stations, which was pretty good since i like that song. i guess it does count as a good memory... that trip was one of the best experiences ever from the fun nights at the hotels to the bus rides and just the whole general feel of it, and i've still got the 9 songs that i put on my mp3 player to listen to over and over again when i was bored and tired on the bus and in the hotel rooms. there was some our lady peace, dashboard confessional, green day "good riddance", smashing pumpkins "tonight, tonight".

Yes, a while back I have discussed the practical dangers of music becomming associated with certain memories.

There is no better example then the last date I went on. Naturally I made a CD with some of my favorite music to play in the car. Well, as you can probably guess, next day we broke up and I can't stand to listen to them anymore as they always remind me of her. :(

The tracks were:

X-Dream - Freak
Children of Paradise - Bloodsuckers (this one especially, it's so dark :( )

I think of train stations when this girl talks about her ex. Probably cos it bores me. I was always eague to say bugger off im not really bothered i just want to play diablo 2........ nooooo! :( And yes i know this is nothing to do with music.
