GRRAGAGHH. This is the second game my ****ing 360 has scratched for no apparent reason.

Anyone know how I can get a replacement without buying a new copy?

No idea.

My 360 apparently hates Halo 3 more than I do. It actually CRACKED my copy and almost cracked my friend's copy when I popped it in.

Microsoft won't replace the disc as far as I know - but I tried when my 360 was out of warranty.

I know how you feel. My box laser scratched my GTA after one day of playing. I just took mine to the store i bought it from and they replaced it for free.
i hope you get as lucky as i did. I'd hate to have to buy it again.

I think I am in the same boat. I keep freezing when I try to play GTA4. I'm pretty sure it is scratched.

I plan on trying it in someone else's box tomorrow and/or try their game in mine. Either I've played too much, or it was because I moved it from my monitor to my SDTV about 3 times (obviously with it off).

Try and call rockstar or Take2. They may be nice and let you send yours in and get a new one.

Best thing to do would be go to back to the store you bought it from and hopefully they'll exchange it for a new one.

Happened to my Halo 3 disc. I took it back to the shop with the receipt and they swapped it for a clean one, all be it hesitantly. Try your hand.

you guys don't even want to know how many games we had to replace over the course of a year due to the 360 scratching them to death at the LAN center I worked in, where we had eight 360s...

I just bought a 360 Elite...hopefully they solved this problem in later versions...? :(

I understand this issue is mainly caused by moving the console around while the disc is still in the tray, it must always be removed I read. I'm not sure if this would apply to any one above...

Trust me, it happens when the 360 is immobile / bolted to a tabletop too.

Haven't the faintest idea. Maybe vibrations from the players bumping/kicking the desk or something. All I know is we had to replace 360 games and accessories (don't even get me started on their wired controllers) about 3x more than any other system. Not to mention 360s themselves.

The XBox 360 is the best console ever, the Playstation 3 is a lie sent by the liberals to destroy us!

i had to replace my 360 when i bought it for this reason. I moved it while it was on and it ruined my disc and the console. Luckily I bought it that day so I could return both and get new ones.

I'm convinced that this happens only to games where the disc is being accessed all the time, games like Bioshock and GTA4. Simply put, if you play it too much the disc will eventually get scratched.

Wow, Microsoft is telling us to get a life, the hard way... ;)

So the shop won't take it back becaues they won't exchange goods they didn't damage, and it costs ?20 to replace the disc with Take2.

YYYYAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYyyyyyy

rent the game at blockbuster ..and then .....

btw this happened with my copy of Rainbow 6 Vegas ..within the first day too

Put toothpaste on it (he said with sarcasm thick in the air). But really when I bumped my 360 it destroyed my Mass Effect. But then I took it to Family Video a rental store and they put it into a heavy duty disc cleaner that looked like it could pwn Mr.Clean at anything not even trying to and my disc was good again.

I bumped my 360 while playing, it made a grinding sound like there was a lumberjack harvesting a redwood in my room. With my heart racing, I took the disc out; it was untouched.

Nuh uh, I play Halo 3 more than any other game and theres never been a problem.

Ah, maybe then. I dunno. But then, Bioshock never left my tray during the first month or two of release so who knows. :p

I had this same problem the second night of playing it. Fortunately my 360 didn't actually scratch it but left some kind of substance on it that looked like scratches running in a circular pattern with the cd. After getting so frustrated of not being able to play I tried spitting and rubbing really hard on the scratches and they came off... been playing problem free ever since.
