my Avatars

I'm practising doing pixel art (sketching with the pencil tool in PS) , I don't want one of my normal drawings as an ava, that would be weird. If i'm going to have a different ava than the current one it's going to be a pixel art one. Either Star Wars or HL2.. :D

G0rgon, I always looked at that Alyx ava as she was saying in english " I wanna f00k you" , her lips were moving exactly like that. And yeah, Simmo's avatar is badass.

Mine is a picture from Chris Cunningham's video for Aphex Twin's Come To Daddy I like it... but I've got other ones aswell that I've been planning on using (the one called Freaksmall is a picture of me...:

Im not the greatest pixel art guy but just wanted to show you what I can (well.. attempt) to do with my hand eye mouse coordination lol

I dont use any fancy program at all, i've only used paint .. its all i have :p

lol and if you dont like them thats fine with me, just showing you what I can do :D


there are some great avatars out there made by people, i usually draw mine

I just need to say that that ant lion is... well... awesome... by far my favorite!

(and I use ImageReady for animations)
 
I used Jasc PSP and Jasc Animation shop for mine, it didnt turn out as expected but I think it still looks ok.

Yeah, indeed it looks cool! I guess I just ain't as proficient with AS as I am with Flash.
 
thx guys. btw, Joeyslucky, I like that avatar you had for a few minutes there, it was a guy getting shot and falling. It looked pretty cool.

i make most of my avatars, but i only have maybe 3 or 4 of them. i made the one i'm using now in paint.... over two years ago.
 
Hey Joeyslucky.. Isn't that Snipe ava a sequence from the beta? I don't remember any rebel dudes (yeah they're civilian resistance, not medics) being shot in an area like that from a strider from any part of the official movies...

Dang, I've mad a tiny Combine avatar in pixelart, and the problem is it's 67x67 ... If i resize it in PS it gets all ****ed up.
 
Ah well, I'm not gonna use it.. It was just a test-image.
I'm quite satisfied with the way it turned out , after all it's my first pixelart attempt ever :D

edit: and eh.. yeah.. its.. from the beta.. if you dont want it thats fine i can take it off, and its not really spoiling anything :\ (and hes not getting shot from a strider) lol :p

I've got a question for all you avatar buffs out there.

How do you reduce an image's size without drasticly reducing its quality?

Everytime I find a cool image, I try to size it down to 50 x 50, but then it just looks like a jaggy mess. :eek:
 
jasc is easy to learn and a has a wide variety of effects etc. Paint is good for the basic, put-er-together is also, but jasc (which.... can be downloaded lol :x) is for more complex things.

Dont use paint!

paint is horrible when it comes to reducing images

Use jasc paint shop pro

or some other advance painting program (adobe, etc...)

it makes it looke more blurred.. and natural rather than deleteing colors like paint does... bah!
