So now that i'm licensed, and my mom is starting to get more and more stubborn with letting me take her CRV out and about, I need to find myself an automobile to call my own.
My only real requirements are that it be a compact truck, reliable, and easily found for under 6000 USD.
I don't intend on taking this mofo offroad at all, other than what it takes to get me and my bike down to the trailheads, so I don't give a shit about 4x4 ofroad packages and shit.
Of course i'd kill for a tacoma, but I'd be a child of god to find a driveable one in my price range.
I hear a tonne of mixed reviews on the S10 and Sonoma, what do you folks think?
Rangers and B series' are a dime a dozen down here, so i'd like to avoid them if at all possible, too easy to find a shitter for 5 thousand...
There are a tonne of old 80-90s Toyota Hillux' / Toyota "trucks" in the area that fit the bill price wise and are VISUALLY just fine, but I don't know what to look for going bad in these trucks, and only have word of mouth and an episode of Top Gear to go on for reliability (and i've heard of some cooling system and gasket issues on some bike forums).
So, considering my requirements, what vehicles could you folks recommend for a cheap ass punk kid like myself? I'm willing to move into the mid sized range of trucks, so long as I can find a V6 model. I'd like to stay the **** away from V8s.
