Dunno if any of you like Hunter S Thompson's work, he has written some really good political pieces, some amazing sport articles and a few bes sellers that are incredible. He also is a founder of the style of writing known as Gonzo, which by chance i have tatooed on my arm but that is a long story involving me in a different country and a little pact.

Anyways to get at the latest from this great man goto http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/archive?columnist=hunter_s._thompson&root=page2

if you like thompson you'll also like Kurt Vonnegut, best known for his novel "Breakfast of Champions". Also, look up Noam Chomsky; brilliant writer.

I still prefer the old favorites Stephen King and Clive Barker, but thats just me.

I tried reading king I really did ...I got as far as Pet cemetary (read 12 to midnight I think, uhhhmm and a bunch of other novels but cant remember) He's just too ...how do I put this: he babbles too much ..his collection of short stories was over 1000 pages long ..and I think there were only 4 stories. He's great at setting mood etc but I dont know I just got tired of reading his books (but then again, at that time I gave up reading sci-fi and horror, because the genre was stagnate)

I havent read clive barker, but did read some of his comic book work ...he's a little bit disturbed :E

I loved HP Lovecraft ..he scared the bejebus outta me

just to clarify: Vonnegut writes fiction, Chomsky writes non-fiction usually about globalization, IMF, WTO, Israel, US imperialism, Linguistics etc

Hunter S. Thompson is great, one of my favorite writers too thanks for the link. You've probably seen the film staring Johnny Depp based on his book "Fear in Loathing in Las Vegas"...also check out the earlier one, "Where the Buffalo Roam". Excellent, and very funny film IMO staring Bill Murray and the old guy from the citcom Everybody loves Raymond.
