On my brand new computer!:bounce:

I am so excited., at 1:30, my father took me to buy a brand new HP Pavilion Slimline.

Specs-
AMD Athlon 64 Processor
nVidia Geforce 6150 SE graphics card
500GB hard drive
2048 MB system memory
Windows Vista Home Premium
19 inch Wide screen monitor

I am going to give PC gaming nother try (my old E machine T3828 couldn't handle games)

I highly recommend HP and Vista.

Wrong forum, stupid thread, HP computers are a joke and you probably spent twice as much on it than if you built your own.

It was only 629.

Sorry, I forgot about the Hardware/software subforum.

Wow, I spent $700 on a computer with an AMD X2 4.0ghz, 7600gt, and similar specs/monitor.

How does it feel to be inferior?

With that graphics card you still won't be able to handle games.

That extra 420gigs will definitely improve your gaming experience.

Why not? I know it's not demi god stuff, but I should be able to handle some games

Pes- That was partially the reason to buy it.
It's also 1/3 the size of a normal PC
and had nVidia cards, it was win in my eyes.

EDIT-my old monitor was one of those giant tube like things, new one is a flat panel, wide screen

Its actually running smooth, I don't know why everybody hates Vista.

You got boned on that, integrated proprietary motherboard (most likely) and on top of that a graphics card that can hardly handle UT2K4, sorry.

Well did you ever encounter the "Vista is running smoothly, do you wish to continue to run this smoothly?" question?

The problem with the slimlines is that they require low-profile, low wattage graphics cards. (25w or less pull!) which is insanely, stupidly weak.. and none of the replacements you could buy are any better. Sorry to say but your chances of playing Oblivion at any type of tolerable FPS are little to none.

edit: this is probably your best bet until you get a new PC.

Low profile bracket located in bottom of box under piece of cardboard. Look and you will find it.

How about America's Army?

Thats all I have ATM.

Check out the upgrade in my above post and have someone with some computer knowledge put it in for you.

As for AA, it will run - but perhaps not very well.

now that you've taken the step to get back on PC gaming, the next will be making the appropriate system when the time arises

Congratulations on the new computer !
But... well, your Geforce 6150 SE is not really made for gaming...
For gaming you should have got at least a Geforce 7600GT. :|

It's not win when the card is a 6150SE. Do some research first. You were clicks away of the Hardware & Software forum where you could ask anything you wanted to. But if you think it's an improvement, be happy! Yay! :)

Thread moved to right forum.

You guys are harsh, accurate with some of your comments indeed, but he's got a much improved system from what he had and a lovely looking screen to play on, I'm sure he's very happy with it. Should run all Source games well enough, and although it will struggle with brand new games, and higher settings it'll do the job for a couple of years yet.

Enjoy it, the feeling when you buy a new system is great. I built my last computer, but I bought a laptop before that and sliding it out it's box was an orgasmic feeling.

well its an improvement over his old pc. so you guys are kind of being harsh to him. not everyone can afford top notch hardware. the video card is probably the only thing wrong with that system but it can still run most dx9 games.

Thanks all, this is big for me, last time I felt this good was when I upgraded from PS2 to Xbox 360, I don't upgrade much in my life, but 80 GB was a freakin nightmare, I know I could've just bought a bigger hard drive, but I didn't want to, since it was still a 56k modem. I am not sure about the new HP, but the Image dump loads 10x faster.

Downloads are going way faster, when I first installed MSN messenger on my emachine, it took 4 hours to download, I just downloaded on the HP in less than 30 seconds. I am no longer constantly doing Drive cleanups/disk defrags and deleting every image once I am done with it.

Man, I remember when I had 20gb! Then I upgraded to 80gb and I was like "oh my god I'm NEVER going to use 80gb!"
Some weeks later I realised 80gb was not enough too :|.

What a bunch of assholes a lot of you here are.

Who are you to put him or his PC down? It's obvious that he's happy with it, so unless you have something useful to say, why don't you shut your F.U.C.K.I.N.G mouths? I'm sure he is well aware that he might have gotten a better deal or better performance had he built his own, but did any of you for one second stop & think (Obviously not, judging from your childish & immature posts) that maybe he does not know how to build his own PC or that his dad didn't want to take the chance on buying parts instead of a whole PC that came with a warranty in writing?

God, I wish I had Admin rights. Perhaps it's best that I don't, as I would have no qualms about giving all you harsh jerks a week long ban from posting or even a lifelong one. I am so sick & tired of people bashing others online, (like i'm doing now) We all know your virtual P.R.I.C.K is 10 feet tall & bullet proof, so can we now move on?

I'm happy that you got a new PC BowSniper. If I can help you in any way, pick out hardware upgrades, feel free to either PM me or have your dad do so & i'll do what I can to help.

It's not useful to say that he can save bucket loads of cash by building his own computer?

In completely unrelated news, I have just discovered, upon reading your graphics cards specs, that I can emulate the Nelson laugh almost perfectly.

What I say and the way I say it is none of your business. Go be a brave knight somewhere else.

Oh but it is my business when I have to read that which you type. Just because you have a lot more posts than the rest of us, does not give you the right to act or rather type the way you do. Of course i'm sure you'll think otherwise.

Ok, i'm done ranting now. :p

I find it amusing how all of you bash him for not building his computer himself. Obviously, you could have spent less money that way, but the warranty and support is part of the sale. So no, it's not a ripoff at all.

Most non-OEM computer parts come with warranties.

And who the hell needs support you can't find by Googling something?
