my friend pirated the game what should i do

Here's what you "Could" do, not what you "should" do:

Set a pack of fast zombies on him.
His game will stop working sooner or later anyway, thanks to VALVe.
Call Gabe.
E-mail Gabe.
Punch him in the gonads... Rather hard.
Run a bus over him.
Tie him to the Jet engine of a Mig.
Throw knives at him.
Trap him in a room full of Snarks.
Phone the police.
Chop him up and claim you've never heard of him when the police come round.
Go round to his house, wait 'till he leaves the room, and throw his computer out the window.
Enter his house with a baseball bat and break his computer.
Steal his Graphics card - Then blame it on Half-life 2 that it went missing.

Kill him, then rape him. Not a big deal if he downloads the game, he'll just eventually have problems with it working.
 
What do you do? You do nothing. If you're a friend you won't narc him out.
 
omg that's the lamest thing ive heard... who cares if he narcs him out. my god when u know someone is doin something stupid or illegal u should bring it to the attention of the people who can do sumthing about it. hey im brutally honest ... :cheers:

Valve WILL catch up with him anyways. Need do nothing. For those of you that think Warez is cool. Well you are the only lame ones. Depite the fact that a lot of it carries virus's of one type or another, Warez is completely illegal. There is no difference between Warez and walking into EB and stealing the disc off the shelf. Many of you would not do that.
 
Ok, now here's what you should REALLY do:

Stop being his friend because you make yourself look bad when you're friends with someone who is so god damned cheap.

If you gotta kill anyone who got a game illegally, by downloading, copying, borrowing, or looking over your shoulder while you're playing, you will become the greatest serial killer of all times, maybe you will even beat uncle Adolph!!!
 
I have tons of freinds that have downloaded it illegal. Do I care? No.
 
Call the FBI, tell them your friend is hiding the plans to assassinate the president in his computer and they'll blow his computer up with a BFG... then him...

All in a days work! :D
 
Well I hate to buck the trend of "Kill him, then rape him in the bunghole" but you know what I think you should do?

Buy the game for him. Maybe for a Birthday present, maybe just a Tuesday present. It would clear your conscience and help your friendship!
 
It's something most people have done at least once. It's not right, simply because no one deserves to get any piece of commercial software for free. The amount of developing time that goes into a game or piece of software is enormous. Even Half-Life 2, for example. Six years in development (though most of that was the Source engine) is a long time and that's a lot of people's wages and a lot of other costs too.

Perfect example is at last count, according to Gabe Newell, HL2 cost around $45 million. Why should someone get away with getting it for free?

And you all complain about something like Steam that helps stop this, but I'm certainly pro-Steam. They deserve every penny they get for Half-Life 2, and therefore they're within their rights to develop something like Steam. Sure, it's had a few problems but all in all it's doing quite well.

All I'd advise the first poster is for his friend to stop playing the illegal copy of Half-Life 2 and register a legitimate copy onto a new account. Chances are his current one will be banned eventually anyway. In fact, maybe you should accidentally on purpose slip his Steam account name to someone at Valve. Teach him a good lesson in the hard way :p
 
I definitely endorse the idea that you take his graphics card.
 
People like .Jesus are the reason why we all have to put up with something like Steam in the first place. If him and his 'haxxor' buddies didn't get off on thinking pirate softwareis in someway cool we'd have been able to install HL2 in under an hour!

Well, there is. Downloading warez is loads easier than walking into a store and stealing it, and you have about 1000th the chance of getting caught. :p

I hate encouraging people to be a rat, especially to rat out a friend, but you should call the Software Piracy Assocation. People need to learn that it is not ok to steal. Besides, you might get a reward ;)
