My girlfriend is a pretty awesome photographer!

the iguana picture is a good one :D

thanks ^_^

I lol'd

This makes me want to start taking pictures more. I bought a nice camera and went out shooting a couple times but then I got bored. Maybe its because i'm not an attractive model. Or maybe I just live in Louisiana and there is nothing to photograph except for lame buildings and wooded areas.

you can always take it as a challenge to make the buildings and woods look interesting. Or go out hiking in the woods and look for cool plants and animals. Close-up photos of mushrooms are always a hit.

maybe in 60 years

I like the road photo too. Even though it's really cliche, well, things become cliche because they work.

you're very welcome, any time!

Something to look forward to, huh Captain? HAHAHA jk :D

Yep they do. I think alot of the problems in art has to do with simplifying, but doing it in a good way, whether it means removing the superfluous notes or communicating imagery as simple (and strongly) as possible. I think the photographer Anton Corbijn does that really well.

But I'm a huge fan of unique and gritty/"wrong" photography. I don't photograph much because I've got my hands full with music and drawing, but I've been meaning to get a camera sooner or later.
An old friend of mine is a pretty genius photographer, maybe I could tell him about your work for some constructive advice... but he's probably gonna tell you to forget everything you ever heard about rules :p

How come you have two christian names and no surname?

I can only see pic 1 and 3, but they are ok. The vibrance of the first pic is good, and the opposite in picture 3 is also a good thing.

Plus you aint bad to look at :p

If think you're going to take a picture of something as mundane as a tree, then something about it needs to be badass. I know people will disagree but that picture seems rather, average, and the tree, the sky, the colors...they're all 'as expected'. It just seems like any one of us could walk out to our backyards, look up, and see that photo, and to me, just capturing what everybody can see, isn't worth $1,000.

My thoughts.

I'm suprised you (author) sent it for a contest, while you can make much nicer photos (for example that chameleon, or whatever that is). You said it's better executed that other entries, but it still looks like a picture anyone can take almost anywhere. It's just one of those things that may look awesome IRL, but mediocre on a photo. But that's just, like, my opinion, (wo)man. ;)

because I feel that it is a good photo, and after looking at the entries I was confident I had a shot at winning (still am). I didn't really feel that any of my other photos would have fit, though I have entered one other in the contest.

I will however be entering the Sony World Photography competition later this month, and I will be busting out the highest quality photos I can possibly make for that.
