So after actually deciding to go through my grades, I found out that i'm getting a 2.6...

WTFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF

I've gotten bad grades before, and this quarter was the second time i've decided to make a sincere effort to change this. I've been trying to speak with my teachers more often about my assignments, i've been asking people for help when I need it, i've been spending ALL of the class time doing my work instead of dicking around, i've been going to the library every so often after school instead of galavanting, to get my work done, i've spent countless nights at friend's houses to eliminate the distractions I have at home...

But i'm still doing just as bad as I was before.

This is how they SHOULD be looking right now, unless i'm doing worse than I thought:

Spanish B (factual)
Alg 2 B (the grade books show a C but i'm hoping that's because they've yet to be updated, since i've been doing all my work and acing or beeing my tests)
Zoology C (could be a D, i'd have a CHANCE at a B if I did an extra cred project, but I decided to spend the time on what I thought was a more important history project)
Directive Studies Comp Sci A (might be a B, decides about how she "feels", since i've been doing all my work very well)
English C (might be a B, no clue atm... Was a 20%, but I know it's at least a C now from teacher emails...)
History D (no excuses, I got off to a rocky start in terms of turning in work, and I didn't get enough work after mid quarter to taper it off like I hopped I could)

Oh well, I guess I should start looking at community colleges, eh?

SERIOUSLY HL2.NET. WTF.

You're probably stupid.

Nah, there must be a good reason for it. Were you really trying hard?

Dunno, I thought I was. I've spent the last two weeks at a friends house doing my math with him, since it doesn't get done at home, and last thursday I spent at his house working from 3-2 in the morning on finishing a history project that seemed magnificent to me in comparo to the rest of the class, but I guess seemed otherwise to the teacher...

There's nothing wrong with community colleges.

The way I see it though, and I may see things wrongly, is that I can either spend my time working hard at a UNI or a State College, and then have a much easier time for the rest of my life...

Or spend my time at a Community College after having an easy time in High School, and then have to work hard the rest of my life to stay afloat.

Might just be all this "YOU NEED TO GO TO HARVARD OR UCBERKELY OR SOME HIGH LEVEL COLLEGE TO GET A GOOD JOB" propaganda i've been hearing from all the colleges that visit though.

I'm disappointed too, because I was hoping to make something of the 4 I got on the AP Comp Sci test, and the other AP classes that my teachers keep telling me they'll let me into. Guess not :(

Are you a senior?

Junior. I blew my freshman year (mid 2s finishing with a 3.0) and sophomore year (2.6, 1.8, 2.5, 2.7), and was praying to god that if I did well my junior and senior year, i'd still have a chance at something like SF State, and then working up to UC Berkley.

Getting good grades is important if you want to advance into harder classes, which you will want to do if you want a really techincal jorb. I didn't realize this and had no motivation when I was a punk HS kid.
Still made it into a community college though, CNIT.

Well, i've been getting lucky so far, since every year i've been in mostly all X level classes aside from math, but I think this might be the end of it :(

/pity party

it doesn't say anything about you , its just hard to push up your grade like that. I'm not sure about how it works over there but aren't the SAT's more important than your actual HS marks ? . Alot of it also depends on the kind of program you want to get into.

Dunno. I was under the impression that Colleges/UNIs cared more about your work ethic (high school grades) than how smart you are (SAT scores).

I found my PSATs from last year. Says 48 under reading, 53 under math, and 62 under Writing. Good or bad? I don't know what to gauge these marks against, but that doesn't sound too good. Wouldn't that equate to an F, another F, and a D?

i have no idea how grading systems work, you better talk to a counselor .

Community colleges aren't bad at all. I'd rather pay $70 per credit hour than $500+ per credit hour for some basic social science class or what not. If there's a CC in the vicinity of a uni, you'd be surprised how many professors will be moonlighting at the CC.

oh snaps your taking zoology!?

Thats awesome, i'm a zoology major at Cal poly pomona.

anyway, just keep trying. I fuceked up a bunch of times, but i still got into a 4 year university. And FASFA is your friend if your broke as hell like meh!

I'm getting a 3.0 right now, frustrating...got to talk to some of my profs. Used to community colleges where I can skate through, not here.

I don't get people like you. You're getting a 3.0, which equates to straight Bs, or at the worst, a few Cs.

That sounds just dandy to me :|

lol, high school grades are almost worth nothing as long as you score 24 or higher on the ACT, you'll get into any college you want...

If my PSAT grades are any indication, then I doubt anything akin to that will be happening.

ick no, not when you have a sister that averages 4.0

keep trting and you should start doing better. What are your study habbits and why did you mess up you sophmore year? but just keep studing and keep trying hard.

I'm going to community college taking an IT program and I should be making $35-40k by May (well, permanently, anyways. I start working in March at probably $20~ an hour) if all things go according to plan.

I already have two job offers, basically. One company that I have an internship with right now doing software development, and the other with the Provincial Department of Justice, where I worked this past summer making $17.23 an hour, full time, with paid holidays.

I'm 19

Mind you, with only community college, I may be more limited as far as climbing the ropes and getting into management or higher level positions, but you never know! I'll have seniority over any Computer Science students by a good 2-3 years, easily, no matter where I go.

Oh, and I have no debt.

Good luck with whatever you decide. High School sucks :|

If you are really worried, you can apply to a community college, get your general requirement credits out of the way in 2 years, then transfer to a 4 year college and finish up until you graduate. It'll be cheaper that way.
