its on my friend's server's fourms its the first review ive ever made so it might suck :dozey: took me about 10-15 minutes to make

For a 6 year old game they are fantastic.

Unreal...but not by much.

The grpahics are good for a six year old game...but it doesn't compete with today's FPS games. 3.6 out of 5 is generous I think.

It's the most absurd thing I've ever heard to compare a six year old games graphics with today's graphics. Anyway, graphics weren't valve's best point - at that time HL1 's graphics are like those of HL2 for it's age. Half-life was one of the best looking games back in 1998, not the greatest looking though as it had competition from games such as shogo and siN.

Oh and didn't unreal release a little later? people used to compare Quake 2 or SiN with half-life, if I remember.

I reckon it's darn silly to compare the graphical capabilities a game released six years ago, via a score, to those of modern games. It's an uneven playing field.

On another track: I reckon there should be a word for reviews that are done ages after a game comes out. It goes Preview -> Review... I reckon the next one should be "Deview", maybe, or possible "Retroview". Or maybe "Retrospective", I like that one. Or it could be "Rearview", heheh, which evokes the concept of hindsight...

I think Unreal was released later than Half-Life, and was started a good amount later too. Correct me if wrong here.

Unreal came out in May 1998.

Anyway great review man! Maybe you could try reviewing Half Life 2 when it comes out
