(no spoliers)
I've just finished hl2, i spent 7hours the first day and today i've spent another 5 so all together the game took me 12hours, a tad disappointing for 5years work. played on medium and didnt rush or take my time, just played it how it was meant.
I dont know if i've just got used to it but i feel it isnt that groundbreaking or great, it may be that i feel THAT's how games should be and so it isn't anything new (but it is). But yeah... dunno just feel a bit flat, might be because i looked forward to it for so long
Gravity gun got old pretty quick too, i mean, yeah its great fun but.... just seems like every game has one in the end lol
Levels were clever at times but a lot of the time it was still pretty obvious what you had to do. (even though lots of ppl got stuck lol) didnt really see any bugs other than the sound jutter and physics worked very well other than the odd tap to a paint can would leave loads of sparks.
Striders were more of a nuiscence than a pleasure (i know its meant like that but you also know why i expected them to be fun)
Antlions were the same, too easy to take down, and not enough of them when you controlled them.
No explaination of guns was a bit annoying, like the second fire on the I-rifle, i know now how it works but i didnt at the time.
Overall...
Graphics 7/10
Realism 9/10
(pc gamers comment: "it's crazy to think someone actually created this world, its just too good" is a bit OTT, it isnt THAT realistic, although it is THE most realistic )
Gameplay 9/10
Scaryness 8/10
Funness 8/10
Weapons 7/10
Enemies 8/10
AI 7/10
(nt great, as when it says "enemies will use what is to hand as a weapon" that usually means a zombie will throw a box at you, the same way each time...)
Storyline 6/10
(not because it was poor just that it wasnt as expected, yep, expecting stuff only leaves for error, also it didnt fill you in on some of the best details and you had to almost make up what you thought the answer was)
Level design 9/10
(this makes the game!)
Please comment.
