My Internet Connection Is Confused

Howdy, I've been havin' some funky stuff going on with my internet for a couple days now. Web pages (including this one) load terribly slow, and when I refresh my Steam servers, they all either show up as 'not responding' or at a ping of 1999. Obviously, online games are out of the question. YET, here I am downloading the Windows SP2 at 170 kb/s (still slowish, but fast enough!)! All my other file downloads experience the same thing! How can this be? Fast downloads for files, but too slow to even join online games and barely bearable web-page load times...


The Hell is goin' on here? ;(


Ed. And yes, I'd rather post here first to see if anyone knows before calling my ISP.

press CTRL+ALT+DEL and see if any processes are running that shouldnt bee (bee joke)

also scan for spyware (search for AdAware) and viri with norton ( i think 2003 is free for a year.

you can also right click and choose repair in your network settings window on your connection. it resets it for you.

or somethings its jsut the way it is like the cable going out and it will fix itself in a few days
