I am really disappointed at this point...trying to get this (i guess) awesome game to run since yesterday evening, and had no luck yet.changed my drivers like 10 times, updated direct x and everything.but no luck.
my problem is:i installed the game from my retail dvd, finished registering it with steam and everything, so far it works fine.i can start the game, get to main menu without any problems, can change my settings and start / or load a game.
i tried to start a new game,it loads,i can see the loading screen, and after that screen the "Half-Life 2" Sign appears, my comp starts to work and i hear a Windows Error Sound - Crash to Desktop, no Error Message - Nothing!i really have not the slightest clue what still i can do.
i am trying to run the game on a XP 1800+ with 768 mb DDR Ram, an Radeon 9700 Pro on Windows XP Professional.I changed Drivers just for this game after it didn't work from Catalyst 4.09 to 4.10, 4.11 and the latest Omega Drivers - no success!
i am simply down right now, and after reinstalling the game again (which didn't work either) i am at the step now to say goodbye to HL2 and put the DVD back in it's case.
Hope any of you guys can maybe help, cause like mengioned above, i have not the slightest clue what this could be.
Help much appericated. :rolling:
