Hi folks, long time no see :)

Some of you might remember I have been working on a HL2 RTS mod for quite a while (since 2008 to be exact). It's called Lambda Wars (formerly Half-Life 2: Wars) and I'm proud to say that we put the mod up on Greenlight a couple of weeks ago!

So far we're doing very well, and have been moving between 1st and 2nd place on Greenlight for this round. I just wanted to ask all of you to support us and give us a vote! Beta 2.3 of the mod is downloadable now on our website. We also ask that you give us a vote on Moddb's MOTY 2013 - we just made it into the top 100!

Sweet deal man, that's some good work!

Now remake Ballmenmod please. Please please please.

Already voted on Greenlight.

Thanks for the votes guys. It's been really rewarding to see all our work over the years get such a strong positive reception on Greenlight. We're doing better than I had ever dreamed of!

Hah, I'm glad you remember Ballmen. Shit was fun. I still have the source code lying around somewhere (but it's too buggy to compile and I think it runs on the original pre-OB SDK). The learning curve was just too steep, the only people who could handle playing it were old school deathmatchers (Quake and UT types) due to the pacing and the gravity mechanic. I've always wanted to revive that mod but I'm afraid interest just isn't really there in today's world of Faux Realistic Cinematic Action FPS America Simulator 2013.

That mechanic could sell you a franchise mister.
As for the interest, there's interest out there for freaking melee centric First Person Fighters.
In my opinion, with a little bit of rebalancing (maps and weapons, strictly), and some better models, that game could have hit the ****ing big leagues.
High skills cap, insanely fun gameplay, mind mending mechanics that put a legitimate new spin (heh) on FPS.

Good god man.

If you don't want the source code, can I have it?

I have to find it but yeah I'll send it to you. Actually I will probably make it available on Moddb.

Melee centric FPS poses a lot of problems from an interface and perspective, few games have done it well. The Specialists is the only FPS that comes to mind where the melee was pretty awesome. To some extent Battle Grounds 2 as well, but that was a fluke of nature I think.

For some reason my fps was unusually low when i played, but still the mod is awesome!

Glad you think so! Depending on your machine (and in a MP game, the machines and latency of other players) the framerate may suffer. We've spent a long time bringing Source to a point it can handle 8 players with full armies on a single map, but the P2P server model of Alien Swarm Source engine introduces limiting factors.

If you think it's not a hardware or latency issue, post in the support area of our community forum: http://hl2wars.com/forum/

Chivalry:Medieval warfare has some pretty great first person melee combat
