My monitor doesnt support 16:9 resolution

I just bought a hdtv and hooked my pc up to it. I tried switching my resolution to 1280x720, 16:9, but turns out my monitor cant support this resolution. Now, I am staring at a blank screen, and I cant figure out how to revert back to 1024x768. Is there some sort of configuration file I can modify? Thanks

If anyone cares, game works just fine now that I set it to 16:10 instead of 16:9.
