My new toy! PS3 (pics)

msg4 is THE ONLY reason i would borrow a ps3....motorstorm was fun too. However, as was previously mentioned, I don't see many titles coming out that I would go crazy for. MSG4 is pretty much it...and i'm not about to pay for a ps3 just for msg4, especially since I think I read a rumor that it may be being ported to 360....proly not though.

His friend got a PS3, he says it's cool, he doesn't want a bunch of naysayers telling him he's an idiot for enjoying a gaming console.

You are somewhat right, but remember he knows how HL2.net feels about the PS3, he knew very well what to expect. Still I'm glad somebody finally said.
 
The tone he was trying to set for the thread should have been obvious. "Woo new PS3!" Etc.

I doubt saying "please no bashing" would have helped much.
Probably a lot of sarcastic remarks by the haters would follow.

You can always just report any post here-in after if it's not relevant (or welcome) to the thread, Alan (hate posts)

Hey, hey, hey veggie. I wasn't bashing just to make everything crystal clear. If I had $600 to spare, there would be a 93% chance of me buying a PS3. So you hush.

We all know its a good system. Its just Sony hasn't been doing things right in the past, but they seem to be getting on track now.

Also, what the hell happened to Isotown? I miss it. :(

I'd also agree, if I had the money, I'd pick up a PS3. Even just for playing MGS3 (Backwards Compatability ftw) and MGS4
 
I don't really think any fanboyism is being expressed here. Either someone is saying "good for you, the ps3 has some cool stuff" or "haha waste of money ps3 sucks"
So it's more of a "hateboy" if anything.

I bought mine on a whim 2 weeks back (20GB) and I just adore it. MotorStorm, Resistance, F1 & Blast Factor kick serious ass.
 
Looks like a trend is popping up. If someone says the PS3 sucks, there's a 99 percent chance they've never played or owned one.

If you have a job you can afford a PS3. Price is not an excuse. Most people won't buy it now because there are no good games. That's a more logical reason than "I can't afford it" because if you really wanted it, you would get it, or at least plan to get it and save up.
 
WTF is wrong with people on the net? If he (or his friend) decided to get a PS3, it's his decision, not yours.

I've never actually had the chance to play Katamari ... been wanting too though.

Both God of War and Shadow of the Collosus are completely Sony owned / funded, so the odds of those games going on any platform other than PlayStation is next to nil. It'd be like if Mario jumped ship to Xbox or Halo jumped to PS3 :p

But who cares, PS3 is better anyway. Give it another year and all the 360 fanboys will have comitted suicide or theyll have a PS3.

Never really cared for consoles anyway, only console that interests me (a bit) is the Wii. Sony has just done a few really stupid things with the PS3 that makes me wonder, that's all. But hey, the 360 has several of those issues aswell :p

PS3 really isn't going to do well in our country. Only the true fanboys are gonna get it. Everybody else has just stopped waiting on it for so long and got themselves a 360 or a Wii. and frankly theres better games out for both of them. Wii is successful now but will fall behind unfortunately because of the controller. Nintendo won't be able to release any classic titles for it like MK and Super Mario. I mean, you can't control mario by waving the controller around you'll just die too much from falling down. the same goes for MK, how are you gonna navigate through the course using the Wiimote? If Nintendo bring out a new controller which is basically just a normal handheld controller then i can see it beating PS3. Even though some consumers may just call it Aftermarket profit-making like Sony might (and probably will be doing) be releasing Dualshock controllers. DS kinda fell behind but only because people saw the DS the way I see the Wii now, with it's technology limiting its games range so all the crappy puzzler titles were released for DS.

What I like about the 360 is that it's much more user friendly what with being able to listen to your music through the console and being able to bring up the side menu and pausing or switching song, etc while the game in the background is paused. Also you can rip any of your CDs to the console, especially if you have the 13gb HDD. Also the controllers are made to get maximum comfortability. This was the same story with the original Xbox. I remember first playing on my Xbox and i picked up the controller and it just felt like it moulded right into my hand. People say the original Xbox controllers are too big and bulky but they really aren't their extremely comfortable. I admit the buttons took a while getting used to but once you learn its easy to switch from different controllers. Xbox Live is probably the best online play ever even though Microsoft are making it free in every country except the UK ?_?. But I'm moving to Australia in 2 months so =P

But congrats anyway, evidently i dont like the PS3 but as long as you enjoy it, whatever floats your boat =D

Gamecube controllers work in the Wii, and there is a classic controller(to control N64/other console games).

Also Nintendo is making a Super Mario Galaxies and another Super Mario(continuation of the N64 one I believe). So I don't think you should be judging what Nintendo can or can't pull off with the controller.

the only reason i own a PS2 is for GT4, so the only reason i'd own a PS3 is for GT5
 
Well the system is holding up pretty well i must say. My friend is actually thinking about returning it cause he cant afford it now. His car needs a new clutch and fly wheel and he goes out and buys a PS3??? stupid. I will own one myself , the 360 is getting lonely :) gotta get a part time job now just to get it sooner i guess.
