My PC!

AXP 2700+ (333FSB) VS AXP 2800+ (333FSB) VS AXP 3000+ (333FSB) VS AXP 3000+ (400FSB) VS AXP 3200+ (400FSB)
Benchmarks between the AXP series (333FSB and 400FSB)

70-85C is the limit for the temp on AthlonXP CPUs depending on the core which is why I said 'below 70C'.
Not that the Heatsink/fan holds it just below 70C. lol

My dad's AXP1800+ is sitting around 45C behind a cabinet door with a stock heatsink/fan.
My 2800+ ran about 45-50C with stock heatsink and fan.

There is no reason other than to spend money when buying a aftermarket heatsink/fan if the stock will work efficiently to cool the unit. Why do OCers spend money on a aftermarket heatsink/fan? Because the stock heatsink/fan may not dissipate enough watts with the increased voltage.

newegg has the MSI 9800 pro for $213. i'd say it's worth the extra $4 for the retail card with the game bundle and the nice fan. MSI makes nice stuff...their GF4 4000 series cards were very overclockable (which is an indication of quality even if you don't plan to overclock)

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-127-127&depa=1

also, don't go too nuts buying stuff now...soon the new socket AMD64's and the pci express will come...you don't need anything more than a 2800, 9800 pro, and some decent ram to play everything from far cry to ut2k4 to hl2 with very decent settings.

as far as the guy suggesting you buy a raptor, it's only worth it if you don't need much storage...overall it won't help your games get any higher framerates...it'll just help your application load times and i guess it'll be faster if you're installing games from cd image files or something...as long as you have a 7200rpm drive i wouldn't worry about it. i would advise that you buy a SATA HD if the mobo you settle on supports it...they're nice....and it's good experience to install one anyway :p

I would get a Hitachi 7200RPM SATA drive.
Beats every drive except the Raptors.

Not meaning to be too OT, but Asus that wall is very nice, could you post it for me or send it to me on AIM? I'd fall in love...

Also I just bought 2 of the 3X gig raptors to RAID 0 them (having a single 74 gig is not worth it IMO when yo ucan buy 2 of the smaller ones, raid them to get the 74 gigs, and have a lot more performance, but thats just me) and i cant say i hate them at all, they are very fast.

As for the CPU/Motherboard, get a 2500+ and a NF7-s. You can find the CPU for 80 and the mobo for 85 I think on Newegg. The reason I say this is because 2500+ with NF7 can overclock to 3200+ with STOCK cooling.

Wow good info! I'm gonna look into that! Thx!

seagate makes very nice SATA drives....the barracuda 7200.7's are very good.

Which monitor should I get? The viewsonic is $40 less.

My case says it can hold 8 fans but I only see 3 fan spots and a few that wouldn't fit my 80mm, am I just not seeing these fan spots or what?

What is the difference between SATA and IDE? Should I get a 40 gig raptor for $110 or an 80 gig 8 mb buffer for $60?

Both are good.
Because the Viewsonic can do 77Hz @ 1600x1200 (samsung with 68Hz) and costs 40$ less...I would get the Viewsonic.

What case do you have?

Anyone wanna help me out? I am full of questions. Also, is the mx510 mouse any good? I plan on getting it but have never used it.

Learn how to use this please.

I do know how to use the edit button, and obviously better than you.
And I have been checking review sites but they don't seem to be much help on my case because there are NO reviews of my case as all, or how to put fans in them.

Yup, thats why you double and triple post all over the place, moron..

Or...you can't edit your posts after 20(or however many) minutes...dumbass!! hahaha owned bitch ****ing owned hahahahahaha.

Quit flaming, when you yourself are a moron. :dozey:

Can we get back on topic? Flaming = Bad

Anyways, Foxtrot - either case should be fine. In fact they appear to be carbon copies of each others. They just have a different front door. If possible you should see which one (in person) has a better build quality. Other than that, its your decision.

Yah back on topic would be nice, and sorry for yelling at you RTFMish. Should I upgrade to 64 bit or would it not be worth it now with new 64 bit processors coming out.

64bit isn't the draw for A64 CPUs currently.
Sure it's a nice bonus to have a 64bit CPU for the future but you buy a CPU for what it offers today.
Look at A64 not because of 64bit but because of it's performance in 32bit. It's low latency ondie memory controller (runs at the speed of the CPU) and HT link which both help with I/O.

Ahh, I can't find any socket 754 motherboards that have the soundstorm onboard audio....if there aren't any I don't think I want 64 quite yet lol.

The new A64's for Socket 939 is up in the air in my opinion. The 939 will gain a dual channel memory controller, but it will loose half of its L2 cache. Anyways, the upcoming 939 processors will be in short supply.

[Edit]: Soundstorm is no more. ;(

Wow that sucks, why did they get rid of soundstorm? Is there any 5.1 onboard sound any more?

The boards have 5.1 or 7.1 onboard but the reason they got rid of soundstorm was because they added gigabyte LAN and firewall. They condensed the Southbridge and Northbridge into 1 chip.
