My planned RIG, waddah yah think?

Gee I wish I had 4 grand to spend on a computer. Scratch that, I wish I had 4 grand period. College is quite damaging to the income...

Ok first of all u don't need an AMD 4000+, you would only need that if your where thinking about overclocking. Second don't get XP Professional it's SHI*. And Third, you don't need 2 Drives. What you want is a PIONEER DVR-109 16x DVD Burner. This is one of the best burners available to date and can burn anything. I should know though, seeing as i have 1. Ltr :p

O yeah and u need more Ram. Get some King Max Super Ram 512Mb DDR 533 * 2

PSU Recommended list:

OCZ Powerstream 600W

Minimum.

Secondly, some n00bs are apparently not so intelligent, you get an A64 4000+ so you DON'T have to overclock. Not that you can't, but the multi is dam high, you'd only be paying extra for something you can get with a 3200+ in the end (the multi).

You are the epitomy of everything wrong to those who need advice. My advice to you, let it to the pros who know what the hell they're doing, and stay out of this thread. /end rant

Back to the ram, try and get a gig of TCCD stuff. You could get two gigs (4 x 512mb, 2-2-2-6), you can manually change ram speed to 400mhz, but I can't guarantee it'll work. One gig should be fine, less you like loading up the entire complete rasterized 3D movie in single frames. I'd recommend OCZ as well, it's hell dealing with Corsair support for the lifetime warranty if it's ever needed. OCZ are some of the best guys to date, PQI is also good (just make sure it's the 2-2-2-6 stuff). Kingston is also on my "not" list, they have some bad compatibility issues that need to get addressed. And more so for their customer support.

made a boboo on the ram part on the list, gheh, but I posted a compatebillity list in this thread (pdf) that list's all the tested ram banks

And i don't see any OCZ or PQI

He posted two completely irrelevant remarks. A 4000+ is usually NOT purchased for overclocking (which he says otherwise), and he recommended DDR 533... WTF... Unless he's overclocking, it's gonna run slower timings at 400...

(I keep track of what works and what causes issues, I've been burned twice by incompatible ram, and I guarantee you that list nowadays is useless - by the time it comes out, it's outdated).

the list is the list that comes on the mobo's website, and its keeps gettign updated, dunno, why wouldnt I trust a compatability list of ram banks from the mobo manufacturer itself
