It started with the shift key staying in the "On" position, when the physical keys were fine. Then after letting it set for a night, I plug it back in and somehow mashing keys causes Steam to close...nothing will type, but the arrow keys work. They help me realize that Shift is still broken. I go to Best Buy, and go into an agreement with roomie that she can have my backup keyboard and mouse if she goes in on 1/2 with me. I come back 70 dollars more poor *before the 1/2* and I have a Logitech S510 wireless keyboard/mouse combo. I'm pretty impressed. I was expecting sub par performance, mainly because I've never had good luck...but I was pretty much crossing my fingers in hopes that it will be good.

Good purchase, I may say. They keys on the keyboard are responsive and quiet, while still being very soft to the push. The 'extra' buttons are on both sides, not up on the top so it's a big fat empty parts up there. It's very thin, so that's a plus.

The mouse is VERY responsive, working right out of the box. That's good, as I've had/heard some problems with it taking a bit for the receiver to work with the mouse or keyboard. The Setpoint software is actually pretty good, as it was quick and easy to change what mouse buttons I wanted changed.

For shits and giggles, have a picture. *NOTE, not my picture*

Any funeral arrangements?

I was thinking about it. I decided that I will end up doing it like a bandaid and just throw it away without looking back...;(

One thing with this new mouse that has me baffled...when I middle click, I can't get it to do the whole "Open new tab on link" thing. Anybody have any suggestions? I've played through the software, and changed what middle click does...but nothing.

*EDIT* OK, it works on links, but not on my bookmarks. Weird.

I really prefer Logitech for peripherals. Their products have always worked for me without fail and are constructed solidly. I'm currently using a G15 (old model) and a wireless G7 mouse.

That's the same keyboard as I have.
After it started sticking badly, I bought a Razer.

When something breaks and you have accepted teh fact that it will never work again you should always take it apart. You've got nothing to lose right?

Maybe you will get lucky and fix it

Then pieces will be everywhere :(

i could fix it.

If not ... worse comes to worse you take a razor blade and slice a line through the lead going to that shift button.

- 1 shift... you've still got one left

;)

it only makes a mess if you open it the wrong way and all the buttons spill out.

come on man, don't you want a usb powered blue light (salvaged from the kb) to put behind your monitor for that awesome glow?

anyway, if it's broken, you might as well take it apart and see what makes it tick. You might learn something that could be very useful for fixing something else in the future, even if you fail to fix this

Then I gotta dig it out of the dumpster :(
You dick. How could you do that to your best friend?! It has been there for you through you sucking as a Heavy to you doing awesome in Starcraft, and you up and throw him away in the garbage?!

You horrible person. :|

Then I gotta dig it out of the dumpster :(

Come on man. Do it. Don't you like digging through the dumpster? You find all kinds of useful stuff in there. Half Eaten bagels, napkins with unused portions - who knows what great things you may find. One man's trash is another mans treasure. I will find your keyboard as buried treasure.

Haw, no big loss to me. Maybe if I ever get another illuminating keyboard, I'll rip it apart. As for now, I'm still stressed to hell about moving to the new place >_>

dear god, that thing looks like it can kill you if it were sentient...

It's not sentient, right?

Ergonomic keyboard > Pretty lights keyboard.

Ack, I hate those with a passion. I've never had an issue with regular typing, so when I have those ergonimic crazy assholes....gah my hands don't know wtf is up.

Yeah I'm not a fan of ergonomic ones either I think they'd make wasd games a bit less comfortable. And if you like to play in the dark/dim lighting, the lights actually are really handy at quickly identifying a key.

I have a Zboard with the normal keyset. Its the bestest keyboard I ever had.

To OP:How long have you had that keyboard?

Personally, I'll just stick to Microsoft's standard keyboard. Gets the job done, had it for nearly two years now, and no problems with it yet. Nothing to look at, as it's just a plain, black, standard keyboard with white stenciled letters and numbers, but who cares? I've got nobody around here to show off to anyways that's into stuff like this.

Mice on the other hand. I have to stick with Logitech's "G" series. Standard mice doesn't cut the mustard for gaming imo and I've become spoiled by the G5's DPI 'quick select' buttons.

Also, I hope you be sure to give your Saitek a proper burial fs. :)

I had the keyboard for just over one and a half years....that's it.

If you don't know where the keys on your keyboard are without looking you fail.

Backlit keyboards are useful for "point-and-peck" typers that, for some reason, like to work in the dark, but they are completely useless for gaming, because you'd have to be comfortable with key locations to game efficiently on some of the more complex titles that use nearly all keys. (such as strategy or RPG games)

Futhermore, if one wants to become a super-fast typist, I'd recommend they get into amatuer programming, which utilizes almost every single shift key as well.

I hate, when typing, you have to go for certain things, like the ^ or # or anything...I have to look, along with +. I know where they are, but since I never really use them, I have to take a quick gander down at em, while still managing over 100 wpm...

so saying anybody who looks at the keyboard is a slow typer is just silly.
