...bicycle I mean. I'm packed up and leaving for 2 weeks in northern B.C. tomorrow morning, and then a month or two down the west coast in July. If you never see me again, it means I probably got smushed by a car, or married a girl in some hicktown.

post from an internet cafe if possible, let us know how good (or bad) things are going for you.

now go. GO. RIDE LIKE THE WIND. May the wind be on your back! Godspeed Child!

The fate of man rests on your shoulders! no, wait a minute. That one doesn't work.

You have chosen...wisely.

Yeah, watch out for A-Bike, he'll be fucking apopleptic.

I assume one bottle is for water and the other is for your urine?

Good luck out there!

God, that's lovely. I feel rubbish with my Dawes 401 :o

That seat will devastate your assss. Get that highway gel stuff.

Are you camping or staying at motels/hostels? How far down the west coast are you going? Sounds great!

just remember which you put where:x

I actually have a water bottle of methanol in the bags for stove fuel. The stuff would be seriously toxic if I drank it by accident.

My immediate plan is to get to L.A. by early August. After that, I don't know, maybe Mexico, maybe New York. My family is all in eastern
Canada/U.S.

Oh yeah, and I just remembered that I walked with my bike and all my equipment under a ladder because my place was getting roofing work. So I'm probably cursed too.

Brave man. This is the kind of trip I'd like to do, but am too lazy to plan for.

Holy shit. You're riding from BC to LA... then across the continental US into New York? Props to you cause that's some really serious bike riding adventure.

It's almost 3 am now, and about 6 beers beyond any chance of getting an early start on my trip. I intended to leave around 7am. Now I'll probably start out wobbly and sick at noon or later. Great way to begin a journey.

You're a brave and foolhardy man.

You won't regret riding with a helmet. Do you do a lot of long distance riding?

This is really cool.

I find the lack of "A-Bike" in this thread, disturbing.

My sexy bike
You can ride it if you like
It's got a basket
A bell that rings
And things to make it look good
I'd give it to you if I could
But I borrowed it

Yeah, I thought I would see a bike in this thread, but he isn't here for some reason.

Walking under the ladder caused you to drink beer, which delayed your bike trip.

Day 4: in 100 Mile House library, about 500 or so kilometers from where I started. My legs kind of hurt. It was really cold last night so I bought a fleece blanket. It makes my bags a lot bulkier. My butt hurts too, and my back, and my knees.

Things I have learned so far:

Truckers WILL try to kill you if you bicycle on the road, even if it has four lanes and no other traffic.

Rumble strips were not made for bicycles.

Mountains suck, but going down the backside is pretty fun, and scary. I topped out at 70 kmph.

Everything tastes good when you are hungry.

Im disappointed that A-Bike hasnt posted yet. Maybe he got wrecked in a vehicle collision...
