Well I made some posts about it a few months ago, so this might be old news to some of you. But this summer I rode around on my bicycles for several months, and this was the result.

Wow, that's quite a feat.
Beautiful pictures.

You know we all thought you were dead...

Wow, that's amazing! Very nice pictures as well. Also, :O at making it across Arizona by bike in the middle of the summer.

I would guestimate it was about 75 days on the bicycle. I spent about 4 months between Vancouver and New York, stopping for a while in some places. Southern California got really hot, 116 deg (45 C). Most of Arizona wasn't much over 100.

Some awesome pics. How did you not get crazy saddle sores?

Is there a link with more photos

btw, how many megapixels are those photos

Dan!

It's good to see you buddy, great pics!

No I don't have more online. The originals were probably 2 or 3 MP. I shot them with a little Pentax consumer digital camera. These photos resized now are about 0.3 MP.

DAN! You're alive! I knew it! <hugs>

What a spectacular trip you've been on. Wish I could do that.

What an adventure. I would love to do something like that, but I have an older road/racing bike.

As for bikes, yours must be a sturdily built road bike...or something. What brand?

Wow man thats kickass!I plan on doing something like this when I get out of school, maybe walk the pacific crest or something. Im sure you have some awesome stories, so do tell.

you didnt encounter those bears i ordered to kill you? damn, my plan has failed.

Welcome back

Oh, jesus, that's cool. I'd love to do a trip across America sometime in the future, those pictures are just inspiring.

Dan...you probably can't even comprehend how much i envy you.

that must have been so awesome...i really hope i'll do something similar someday

Sweet ride man. Did you fly back, or ride back along the same route? You must have had some adventures too (ran into a bear, arrested for trespassing, etc.) no?

Heh, we all thought you died. Glad to have you back, awesome photos!

Wow, that's incredible. I hope I get the chance to do something like that in my life.

Wow.

That is a simply amazing adventure you had.

I am very impressed.

Beautiful pictures you took as well.

You took some seriously gorgeous pictures. Looks like a fun trip.

I really hope A-Bike posts in this thread.

I'm really interested in doing something like this myself once I've got my degree! How much d'you reckon your expedition cost? ( I suppose you'd need to cover food, drink, accommodation, and that would be about it, excepting any bicycle maintenance/repairs). Also, did you use hostels or camp most of the time?

Wow, you're excellent at taking holiday pictures, you make me want to do that so bad. Looks like you had a whale of a time! Hahahaha!

Good to see you're back Dan.

Didn't ya get your bike nicked in San Fran?

Somewhere, somehow, a-bike just shot a serious ****ing load.

Awesome stuff. :)

Seems like you had a blast, awesome pictures.

Yeh, people thought you were dead :|

I used to have a Devinci. That got stolen, and I got a Schwinn. Both were low end road bikes (under $900). I was riding with minimal luggage though.

I don't have any plans to go back any time soon.

I got hit by the leftovers of some hurricanes. That meant riding in 40 mph winds with trees and debris falling all over the place. There were forest fires still going on in California. I also saw some crazy alien scenery out in Arizona, as well as dinosaur footprints in the rocks. I remember just flying down a freshly paved road with shiny black asphalt with a little tail wind and crazy rock towers and mesas everywhere. Got hit by a car on Vancouver Island, and drove around with a crazy chick. I made a lot of friends down the west coast, saw dolphins and seals. Lots of black bears in BC, and a moose. One lynx on the beach in Oregon. Ate some weird food, slept in a lot of weird places. Went skinny dipping on the full moon and came back to a hot fire and cold beer.

I camped almost the whole way, except for a hotel or hostel in some of the cities, and some free places to stay with nice people. I payed 500 for the first bike, plus about 600 of camping and other supplies from MEC. Then I payed another 600 for the second bike. I averaged about $25 per day on regular expenses, mostly food. All in all, I think I spent somewhere between three and four grand this summer.
