I stopped watching around episode 100. I might start watching again, but... it's not all that great. The concept is awesome though, it's just the story is so poor and the characters soone-sided and bland.

I hate when people think that certain animations are more mainstream than others, when an animation studio invest on an Anime they do it hoping that it would be the biggest commercial success in Japan, so you can’t say that : Naruto = for the masses = Bad. That concept doesn’t apply in animation, you can love or hate Naruto that is up to you, but even Shinichiro Watanabe (director of your beloved Samurai Champloo) is trying to create an Anime “for the masses” a thing that by the way he has not accomplished in the way he did previously with Cowboy Bebop. Elitist Otakus are a rare breed; they think they are much cooler because they don’t watch Naruto, Dragon Ball Z or Bleach.
As for the original question about the fillers, well, they DO suck, and nobody really knows when are they going to end, the general consensus is that fillers should last at least 5 more episodes so be patient. I am going to give you an advice; I think I was the one to recommend you Naruto, well now I am going to recommend you Bleach, it will help you to wait for the real Naruto episodes, right now they are 41 episodes, start your bittorrent tracker , you wont regret it. It starts really slow, but after episode 15, you will be hooked.
By the time you catch up with Bleach, Naruto Episode should be:

I watch Naruto (off-manga arcs pretty much suck), Bleach and I'm starting One Piece (only seen the first 10 eps - gonna finish d/ling the 2nd 10 eps after I finish the Family Guy Movie ). I can't wait for the saga after next to begin (I read ahead in the manga).

Bleach is sweet too. I didn't find it to start off all that slow myself but I am nonetheless hooked in. I can't wait to see Ichigo find out how to release his soul slayer to its true form.

I hear One Piece kicks ass later on but it starts kinda slow. Luffy isn't exactly my favorite protaganist right now but I hear it gets better.

Why do they re-use the same actors? All those voices you list they've done have been lame. Kaneda in Akira - crap voice, all Pokeemon (spelt wrong to avoid sponsored link) voices - crap, all DBZ voices - crap. The only one I can't say much on is Kakashi.

I also hear that the guy that did Trunks in DBZ is a character too.

I try to avoid english anime at all times. Most voice-overs seem so crappily done.

For Hellsing I had a choice between english and japanese and I went with japanese for that reason.

BTW... Hellsing is a badass anime. Too bad there's only like 12-13 eps.

EDIT: Cowboy Beebop was done well in english so I didn't have a problem with it.

Watch it in Japanese if possible, remember that watching the Americanized Naruto you are not only seeing a subpar voice quality but you will be watching a cencored version as well

Ok, I really don't get it.
People are always telling me Naruto is awesome.
I seriously don't see what's so great about this anime.
Ok, so there are these parts where it's good, mabye like 1% of the anime.
If they shortened the series to 20 episodes instead of over a hundred, I would have agreed with them.

Here's my main reason why Naruto is crap: It's too many damn flashbacks! I bet it's 90% of the anime or something. You can't get by one single episode without one.
Also the anime wastes too much time at single moments. For instance, they have a fight on a bridge for 10 episodes. I could go on, but I guess I'll spoil the "awesome" storyline for all you fans out there.

I was watching Naruto in Japanese. It's just that all three of the main characters are hopelessly annoying stupid arrogant little twats, and whenever there's an action scene, it goes like this:

Naruto does Spinning Hosepipe attack!
My god! What was that!
Naruto goes on to explain, with diagrams, what it was.
Really long flashback.

7. Enemy dies / runs off or goes to there next power level. In which case so does Naruto.. repeats from step one.

I liked Naruto when it started, but now its boring, repeated shat, smells like dbz.

Animes suck more when you have to wait a week for each new ep. They always end up being disappointing. They're way more fun when you can d/l like 100 eps and watch through them all quickly, it makes all those flashbacks go by faster.

That's why I haven't downloaded Naruto in the last 2 months or so.

For me Naruto`s greatness reside in the variety of characters, everyone of them has his/her own story and detailed background, trough the series you discover their connections to each other all this over 4 generations, its very interesting, I also like the humor in this series, its very very Funny, Guys like Gai Sensei or Jiraiya just crack me up :E
I know that lately these "flashbacks" are annoying also this “fillers” episode make no sense at all, they put those because the Animation is catching up with the manga so is either that or put Naruto series on hold for some months to let the manga develop further, personally I think a Naruto pause won`t be bad, that would get rid of crappy fillers episodes, plus I have Bleach to keep me Anime addiction appeased….

Yep, it's been getting kinda cheesy. Now with those 2 massive guys lurking around, kicking the ass of jounins, easy, something has to be done. Obviously the only thing that can currently beat them is, guess what, kids. Kids that were trained by one of the guys that got his ass kicked. Hopefully after all the fillers are done with, it will pickup again.

Right now Bleach is way better than Naruto. It is in an almost non-stop fighting arc and I'm always looking forward to the next episode.

Naruto had its worst episode ever last week. It'll be a few months until it gets to where I'll be excited to see it again (plot-wise).

Yeah the fillers are poo. As I said in another thread I only really watch it for Orochimaru, but I was also secretly hoping that the series would recover and get back to the level of the Chunin exam, or attack on Konoha again, because those periods were quality.

However, I started reading the manga too for a taste of what would happen in the future of the anime, and this week's chapter (270) just defies logic with its retardation. I'm sick of having my intelligence insulted by Naruto just so it can have the cheesy 'bright star' characters win through somehow and provide a corny "try hard to win!" message that noone cares about. I will read next week's to see how it works out, but I'm now thinking that I have probably reached the end of the line with watching/reading Naruto.

His japanese voice sounds kinda like the english Freiza voice so I wouldn't be surprised if the english voice is similar.

You want to hear a bad english voice-over? Listen to Sanji's voice in One Piece in english...good god that's probably the worst voice ever. The other voices on the show aren't as bad but they are still weak. I'll stick to the weekly japanese episode thankyou.
