Although its name suggests perhaps even grander capabilities, Windows enthusiasts are excited over the discovery of a hidden "GodMode" feature that lets users access all of the operating system's control panels from within a single folder.

been using this for a while it's nifty
o enter "GodMode," one need only create a new folder and then rename the folder to the following:

GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}

Whatever the **** you do, DO NOT DO THIS ON VISTA.

I won't explain what happens, but explorer.exe goes crazy, took me a few hours to fix it.

You should read more.
the article I linked to said:
The trick is also said to work in Windows Vista, although some are warning that although it works fine in 32-bit versions of Vista, it can cause 64-bit versions of that operating system to crash.

If it doesn't add any new features I don't really see the point, outside of just screwing around.

Why would it add new features? Do you even know what this is? E:

That's it. That's all it is. It's convenient so you can set everything the way you want from one place, instead of clicking on 50 different control panel icons and hunting through the advanced menus.

I mean that's what it sounds like to me, I haven't tried it yet.

I don't know about you guys, but after using XP for so many years - when I reinstall it, I get very god damn annoyed with the hold-my-hand settings like balloon tips and 'would you like me to clean your desktop icons', and other newbie features.

Having a way to streamline setting up a new install for advanced users makes this 'God Mode' one of the best features of Windows 7, in my opinion.

That wasn't really that hard to read.

Look at the post above yours, it summarizes it quite nicely.

Eh.. or you could just type what you want to do in the start menu. I can abso-fucking-lutely guarantee you I'm quicker with that than scrolling through some retardedly huge menu.

Not like there isn't a search bar within it!

I like it because I can run down the list and fix everything that's been bugging me so far. I don't even know what I'm looking for. Shit that I don't like.

No, I make a habit of commenting on things I know nothing about

I just don't see a huge benefit of an amalgamation of the control panel when it isn't difficult to navigate the control panel to begin with.

I don't know why you got offended (I put a little emoticon!)

it isn't difficult to navigate the control panel to begin with.
I disagree. It's a cluster****.

 Yeah, sorry - I could have said it differently.
I'm not even sure what that emoticon means, TBH, I sorta made it up. He's showing his geeky buck teeth.

Now that's kind of cool. Yes, the search feature is good but a lot of times you know what you want to do but can't remember the exact name. Navigating the control panel in that case is a total pain in the ass in any version of windows after XP (IMHO).
