Holy shit. I'd never seen anything about this game until now. Has anyone played this?

http://www.cdaccess.com/html/pc/necronom.htm

This is exactly my taste in setting, I don't know if the game will be any good, but if I get 3D graphics with environments like this, I may not want to leave this world.

EDIT: ewwwwww never mind. the graphics aren't even scrolling 3D! click the picture. LOL thats like so pentium 2. (oh it is pentium 2)
Check your bargain bin"
Unless you just have to have all things "Lovecraft" or really like these kind of "click the picture" games....skip it 4.0 / 10.0

Damn man, it was a nightmare come true too! What a disapointment. One day I will make games with environments this wicked, and I will exist inside them.

You're a reader of HP Lovecraft? I didn't think I'd find anyone with enough culture to even pick up a book on these forums.

No, I was young when they came out. My brothers had these books and they altered me, although I dared not open them. I don't have any culture. >=)

I did read a Stephen King book and a couple of other books like The Scarlet Letter

Check my post (should be one of the last posts) in "The Call of Cthulu" thread to see some images of the books so you can see what I'm talking about.

If you were young when HP Lovecraft released his stories, you'd be a hundred years old.

Oops yea thats a typo LOL he died in 1937 as I just learned a minute ago. I didn't realize he had been dead that long, or at all. I just like his last name. And the images that come to mind when I see his name. I ment to say when my brother bought the set. Their set was brand new and shiney is what I'm trying to say.

If I had the book here I would attempt to read and stuff. >=)

*me emails brother*

I'm reading The Brothers Karamazov by Dostoevsky for FUN you filthy legal representative <3

I read Lovecraft.

While a lot of his works were excellent alot of it is kinda samey.

Just look at these images from the game. This is the type of wicked shit which is the only place I would feel comfortable and at home:

images from Necronomicon (the shitty ass excuse for a game but still has good stills for a Pentium2 game):

I want a modern FPS game with a world this dark.. with shadows that swallow you...

Lovecraft's stuff is a little TOO dark for my taste.

There's also that you may be interested in, it's got some pretty good scores (in the 8 range).
Ya! see, I need someone to help me connect the dots sometimes.

I was just in that thread but didn't even consider that I might want that game even though everyone seemed to think it was going to be sweet. Images sell me games, not words.

I looked at about 50 of the images. It seems Bethesda Softworks published this project. I'm downloading some video's of it to see what it will be like.

The Case of Charles Dexter Ward is one of my favorite books of all-time! Lovecraft was a brilliant writer and some of his prose is the prettiest I have come across.

Never heard of this game before, but it looks pretty entertaining. RE4 did pretty well to capture some very Lovecraftian landscapes and atmospheres imho. I haven't played DCotE yet, but it looks like it would be a pretty good romp for any Lovecraft fan....

Yes! I'm a monster RE fan.

About Necromonicon:
Well for a fan, maybe. it scored 4/10 poor. Its a screenshot click the picture game.

I wouldn't get it unless it was a few dollars, just to see the images. Love Lovecraft! The darker the better. It's getting hard to invoke any type of fear emotion from me, I need a stronger dose. Something to make me afraid to play it. Don't think I'll see it from these games, but if only I could create the things I see in my mind...

A much much better choice would be the other Lovecraft based game, "Call of Cthuhlu". A Bethesda Softworks game that looks like a Resident Evil type game in 1st person view of course.

I've seen some videos, it's definitely a great game. You can find the link at the end of Azzmans Cthuhlu thread, but unfortunately it looks like Headfirst went bankrupt, so it's only available for Xbox. I'll be getting it for $15 or $20 hopefully, since it's been out since last October.

Not necessarily...see here.

It looks as though its still slated to release in a little over a week, but hopefully it really will and it won't just disappear one day. I really hope it does come out for the PC because I don't have an xbox and I have been wanting a scary Lovecraft title for quite some time now!

Oh, and the cover art on those books rules! I have had them for a while too and I love how they fit together.

Also, if you like hard fast metal, a band to check out is Demolition Hammer (now broken-up unfortunately)--check out their album cover for Epidemic of Violence!

-I like nearly every kind of music, I will check it out and let you know what I think.-

I hope it really does come out for the PC. But, I've been thinking I may wait until it's $15 dollars (I've seen a used copy of the Xbox version for as low as $18 so far) because, let's be honest, it's no RE4 or anything, and I still haven't bought that game even though it will probably be my favorite game ever.

// I'm watching Constantine right now. muahahahaaaaa

I totally forgot until you said "they fit together"!
>=)

Is this a 20+ year old memory? Hey you made me remember. My brother showed me how the images combine to make one larger picture? YEs! Thank you for reminding me. :D Maybe you could do that and show me how it goes. Or maybe I can...

*opens Paint shop*
EDIT: here is the best I could do from the images I found - the seam can't be helped from the using the source Images available to me at this time. Looks cool. Sorry its been re-sized.

Wow, you have so many posts people let you be an elitist! How cool!

Okay, that was kind of jerky, sorry. I have nothing against you. But assumptions like that aren't so good. And I might just be cranky. Anyways, not that I'd find anyone even remotely egalitarian on these boards... :p

:)

I think he was just messing with me. Instead of saying something expected and boring like, "Oh, you've read Lovecraft", he was messing with me like, "Wow, I didn't know you could read" ;)
