Yo,

At the moment I have me a logitech Revolution and well its probably the worst ?60 quid i have ever spent, in the past logitech mice have been fantastic and I had mx700 then mx 1000, both where fantastic but this new one is awful. It freezes up a lot and is especially bad in games. For a long wile I thought it was my pc but having spoken to some people it seems laser mice are pretty poor for gaming and loose tracking on low sensitivity (i have cs set to 1).

So, I want a new one... question is which one do I get, I have been looking at the razor blackadder but then came accross this little guy.. roccat kone

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=KB-000-RC&tool=3

problem is tho I read it is a laser mouse and am worried it will be jumpy like my revolution, does anyone else have one of these and do they find it jumpy wile gaming?

It all depends on the preciseness of the laser. And i'd suggest taking a wired mouse. They are more faster and accurate in games.

I'll defo be going for a wired mouse. I just don't want to spend ?50 on a mouse only to find it still has the same problem as my revolution.

Send me ure revolution. I bought it and loved every minute of it. Had to return it so I could afford to move out from my roomies place....

:D

I upgraded from a wireless G5 to a wired G9, and it was well worth the $20 upgrade fee (logitech allows you to trade in mice and pay the difference if there is one). No more mouse lag/warping from wifi interference, and it's much more comfortable.

I've been using a Razer Diamondback for ages now, and it's an awesome mouse. Not sure about the new version of it, but i think the others in the series are good as well.

Some people say that they're really light in comparison to other mice, but i think its just a question of getting used to it.

Oh, and don't get a wireless mouse.

Yea to say razor is at the top of the list really atm but I want one with weights, I'm really fond of a heavier house.

The mx518 sounds like a cool mouse but it just looks to cheesy with the silly dented metal crap, i think im just being a baby but I want something that looks abit sleaker.

Really need to find somsne that has used this roccat mouse, really need to know if it mouse lags on low sensitivity, thats my biggest worry atm.

"Flat" mice like the Razor line suck. Mice that fit to your hand ftw: I love my MX510.

You can't feel the "dents" it's just a smooth mouse.

Really, as far as mice go, the MX518 is the best thing you can get. It's accurate and never fails- it looks great on my desk it has never given me a single problem.

lol the 'dents' are just a design, its all smooth. I too recommend the MX518.

I just got the MX518SE, it's same as the MX518 but has a solid red color instead of the "dented" grey design.

I know the dents are only in the design I just don't like that design.

The red one don't look so bad but why isn't there just a plain back one or something a bit more neutral? The mouse some great just looks retarded. I want something that goes with the kit I already have.

There's the Batman MX518: http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksid=m38&_nkw=mx518+batman

Kind of cheesy I think. I got the red MX518SE to go with my case's red fan lights and my Saitek Eclipse's red lighting (when the keyboard gets here monday).

The Logitech G5 seems like a good mouse, it's laser but it only has 7 buttons (the MX518 mouse has 8): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826104076

The G5 also has a tilt wheel, you could probably set it to switch weapons on scroll, and fire modes/ammo on tilt, etc.

I've got a MX revolution and it works perfectly, it very rarely freezes up and it only does that when it's running low on battery.

I'm looking at some G5's at the moment. My friend says he has experenced no skipping with it but its also a laser mouse.

What makes these laser mice skip?

What sort of sensitivity do you have the mouse set on, i have mine on 1 in cs and it can be pretty much impossible to turn at times..

I am asking for a lachesis/deathadder for christmas.

and a creative fatal1ty headset.

I'm looking into the deathadder as well but this roccat one really dose look the part. I'm trying to find more information about it at the moment.

This. I think you've done something wrong or just have a defective one.

I strongly recommend the Razer Death Adder. It's not too expensive, very sexy, and I love the shit out of it. Ultra-smooth, ultra-precise... my headshots per minute went up in CS!

deathadder_LRG6.jpg

Yea the deathadder looks cool but there are a few things that are holding me back,

A - the shame, I'm more of a logitech boy and like my mice to be reall deep, the razor ones seem to be a lot more shallow and long, but i guess that is something you just get used to.
B - weight, one thing i like in wireless mice is the weight from the battery so I would like a mouse that has the ability to put weights in and give me the same feel.

ATM i guess im looking at the logitech G5, mx518 and deathadder and still looking at this roccat one - love the look of this one but im worred that it will get that dodgy stuttering that it seems are inherent in laser mice.

You guys with the revolution, what kind of sensitivity are you using on the mouse? Looking at the logitech fourms there are a LOT of people having similer problems as me, people arnt very happy with it.

But the Deathadder only has 5 buttons...

I've got mine set to 4.8 in Source games and that fast enough for me. Also what sorta desk are you using? don't use a mouse mat they interfere with the laser.

I have my mouse speed turned down in the control panel to the third notch from the left and have my css sensitivity set to 1. Try that out and try turning 360 quickly, your gunna need some space to do it but for me it died pretty fast.

Would be good to know if i have a faulty mouse or weather they just dont like that kind of sensativity.

Mines at the fourth notch in SetPoint, and I set it to 3 in most games.

Never heard or seen that roccat kone thing, but from the reviews I've looked up it seems like a great mouse. People are saying that it's bigger than other mice.

mx518 is the best you can get regarding performance and durability. It's very lightweight, which is a good thing (don't convince yourself that heavier is better because you're used to a heavy mouse).

Deathadder is also great. It's almost a perfect mix between razer's and logitech's qualities, but very picky on a good surface. It works well on only a handful of mousepads. It works well on Icemats, razer exactmat and the Everglide Titan fnatic (the only cloth mousepad it works perfectly on). On pretty much any other surface, you'll get pixel skipping and the staircase effect.

G5 v2 is a good mouse, but it's simply silly to pick it over the mx518, it's just better in pretty much every way except maybe the scrollwheel can tilt and is slightly bigger.

Razer copperhead/diamondback are sleek mice. They're great for people who like them, but it's quite something else from a ergonomic mouse. Try before you buy.

I'd recommend the mx518. One thing, if you buy the regular mx518, you will get one with a new 1800dpi infrared laser. As far as I know, it's pretty much the same thing as in the deathadder. I'm afraid (but haven't been able to confirm) that this mouse will be as picky on surfaces as the deathadder. The mx518SE looks like it's still the old version, but don't take my word on it.

It sounds like the roccat gets pretty bad during big sweeping motions which is a shame, really liked the look of that mouse.

I guess I will be getting a deathadder then. Might also look into getting a new mouse mat, I'm currently using a 5 year old icemat.

Has the company that make icemats now become steelseries?

Thats quite intresting, I love my icemat, I was wondering if it was about time I got a fresh one, it may have eroded over the years.

If you're looking for spend a little extra for a premium mouse surface, I would highly recommend the Ratpadz XT. It's $20 after an instant discount with free shipping, but it's the most amazing mouse surface I've ever used. It won't wear down with frequent use, and you can easily wash it off if it gets dirty. Just note that it's rather big if you have limited desk space.

If you don't like it, Kyle Bennett (the manufacturer) stated "If you purchase a Ratpadz XT and are not satisfied with it, we will buy it back at the full purchase price and pay shipping."

See this thread for more info.

Well I opted to get a deathadder, ordered it lastnight and should hopefully come by the end of the week.

Nice. I'm thoroughly satisfied with mine so far, I've had it for six months or so.

Well i am almost certain i am getting a new mouse for Christmas and i asked for either the Deathadder or Lachesis. I have never used a "gaming" mouse before so i really have no clue what i am looking for, is the lachesis worth the extra $20? edit: I see that near the bottom it shows which mice will work with OSX and the Lachesis doesn't have a check mark. Does this mean it will not work at all or won't work as "optimized" as it would on Windows? I need a mouse to at least work on OSX when i am doing everything non gaming and then i switch over to Windows to do gaming.

Deathadder:
$59.99
1800 dpi 3g
No onboard memory
5 buttons

From what I have been reading laser mice are no good if your a low senstivity user as they have trouble keeping up with fast movments and freeze up. This is why I didnt go for the krone and why I am having problems with my MX revolution. I would recomend the deathadder, a lot of gamers seem to rate it and its the one i choose too. But, I havnt use it :S

There is a microsoft one thats rated hightly too, some intel 3.0 or something.
