Alright, I need a new mouse. I have a normal ball mouse that comes with a computer, and it's really messed up. I cleaned it, and it didn't fix it. So I've searched around a bit, but I can't decide which one to get. I want either a Razor Diamondback, or a Logitech MX 510. Which one should I get?

I'd personally go with mx510. I have an mx500 and love it.

I have no personal experience with either of them, but it seems like the MX 510 is the most popular one. Have you considered getting a MX 1000 ? I would recommend looking into that one.

Yea, I've looked at it, but I don't like cordless mice. They seem to have slow reaction times.

The Logitech MX 700 (a wireless mouse) does not have a slow reaction time. Trust me, I'm a twitch type of person when I play video games. No lag at all.

The MX-1000 and MX-900 (Bluetooth) don't have slow reaction times at all. The MX-1000 is a laser mouse too, which means better precision (<--spelling?).

Check out some reviews of the MX-1000 and you'll see. Slow reaction times are indeed a problem on the older cordless mice.

If you don't feel like spending $100 on a mouse, just get a Logitech MX510. I have one at the moment, very stylish, well-made, and all of the extra mouse buttons come in handy. All of my games have the flashlight key bound to the 'back' mouse button, which is really easy to access, and for HL games, my 'forward' button, right next to the back button, is set for my sprays. You won't regret the choice. Newegg has them really cheap as well.

I didn't like how the razor feels in your hand. The MX500, 700, 900 and 1000 series are all good mice and feel great when using them.

All of the mice use a LED except for the MX1000 which uses a lazer. Much sharper image for it to tell movement from. ;)
I really like my wireless MX700. Anyone know when they are coming out with their next keyboard/mouse combo with a good mouse?

I'd say go for the MX1000, but if you're up for learning a new thing then I'd say try out a trackball. The microsoft trackball explorer is great but it takes a lot of getting used to. After you've mastered it, though, you're generally better than you were at games, easier to spin around and turn and whatnot.

Is it truly faster/ more efficient? Should I buy a cheapo $30 and learn?

Alright, thanks. I don't want to spend 100 on a mouse so I'll get the Logitech 510. I also don't really like the way the Razor feels, the Logitech one is more comfortable. Thanks for your help!

whats wrong with, say, a mx310? i mean what is the difference really, is it noticeable? Seems like a funny way to spend more money on a computer thats all

here are the logitech differences:
http://www.logitech.co.uk/index.cfm/products/details/GB/EN,CRID=3,CONTENTID=7982

Basically, the 310 doesn't have the 'cruise control' system, im not sure what that does but it's probably something decent. Also the mx510 upwards pwn the 310 and 500 on megapizels/sec, which must increase precision.

Im not sure about cordless, recharging and after awhile the battery getting worse and worse, so im going for the mx510 for christmas...

my everglide optical giganta came today :D im very very happy.

The mx310 is fine although the better mice have much better precision. Of course they have extra features but how well you can use the mouse has a lot to do with which mouse you have as that is your interface with the PC every second you use it.

Also with more precision, the cursor will move further with less movement of the mouse and as you increase the cursor speed you won't loose accuracy.

Man...I remember back in the day when there were "super-accurate" ball-mouses like the Boomerang...ah...*rambles*

i have the nyko air-flo, best mouse i ever used and i only got it for 5 bucks new...

I have Mx500 and the extra buttons are great i have back set as last used weapon and farward set as suit zoom.

i agree with you blah, i have the same mouse as you. its pretty heavy but i dont mind the heaviness

but i heard there are laser mouses now for like 100 dollars

wondering if those laser mouse are worth it

well if You don't like wireless mice, go for Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0 USB. very accurate and sensitive, it's optical but works fine on every surface (I'm using it on a wooden board - works perfectly). it's also way cheaper than Logitech MX 510, 700, 900 or 1000. only right-handed, but fits perfectly.

(no, I wasn't paid by M$ :p )

100$ for the MX1000? Isnt it more like 60-70$? Ok, that IS alot for a mouse :p Atleast its quality...
