Well, I need a new graphics card and was hoping to get the 6800GT but I can only get about $300, USD.

What would be the best choice for a video card for $300???

I want to be able and enjoy HL2, not going to be able to with me GeForce 3 TI200, lol.

I might be able to go as high as $350 but I want to know what I could get for $300. I have been looking but just can't decide what I wan't.

if its mainly for halflife 2 look at ATI cards.
9800Pro or the best one you can afford

For $300 you can get a 6800, non gt. It's not as good as the other $400 or higher cards, but it's better than a 9800xt and it's actually cheaper. And it has all the new features of the 6800 series. But if you could wait a little longer, save up that extra $50, I'm guessing the GT will drop to $350 somewhere between now and Christmas with the next pair of cards by ATi and Nvidia are coming out, and it'll be worth it believe me the GT will last you until the next windows comes out in 2 years and we'll all be buying new systems anyway. But the $300 6800 will run HL2 maxed out easily. And while the Geforce FX cards can't run HL2 well, the 6800's can run it maxed out.

Alright, I geuss I will see if I can get a 6800 then, maybe wait and see if the GT drops in price or not.

Really anything is better than what I have now I geuss, and my dad is an Nvidea fanboy and, since he is buying it and for some reason wont even let me decide really, it would take to long to convince him to get ATI, hehe. :)

ATI is nice, but the 6800 sweeps away all the problems with the FX series of cards...Doom 3 runs like a dream on it.

Well , most of us want HL2. As long as the ATI cards keep running good on other games...
