Need help in Route Kanal!

Im new to Half Life 2, Im Stuck in part of the route kanal! When I go through an escape hatch, I fall through sky vent and land on oil barrels, take out flying objects but cant seem to get out of this area. If you or anyone knows how to get out of here please let me know? Ive gone down a ladder into an area with water in it, tryed to stack barrels to enter concrete tunnel but cant get high enough to access it? i've spent ages on trying to complete this level but?????? Go up the ladder to the very top, turn around and walk on those pipes on the roof. They should get you up on a ledge.
You need to raise the water level to get in the concrete pipe.

Ah, yeah, I got stuck their too. You need to find a Valve(?!LOL?!) and turn it, so the water goes into the sewer.
