Need help with Berreta 9000 vtm

I need help with the Berreta 9000 vtm, and its in the second video, roughly around 5:45min. The guy says to use the select and uniform scale, to make this (picture 1), but whenever i try to do this, all i get is this and the icon thing doesn't show up (picture 2) (its hard to explain). Picture 3 is when i just use the scale button, from the edge of the thing i'm trying to "scale".

Can anyone help me (make sure you view pictures to understand/view video)

edit: sorry i can't put up the first picture, as when i copy it into paint, the actual video in wmp is blank(black), so you might need to download video 2 of that vtm to understand (5:45mins in).

are you sure, all that does it maximizes the view so you can see everthing in the view port. thanks for the help anyway.

does anyone else have any suggestions?

I don't really understand your problem. At that part of the video he just clicks the scale button, holds shift, scales down, and moves the selected edges. Also, I can't read the text in the pics.

yeah, your problem is you have the gizmos turned off. press Z. it used to get me sometimes too :-P

I did that once, was really annoying
Like they said press z. If that doesn't work go into options and check the "display gizmo" thinger.
