Hi i need help trying find out the temperature of my Ati X740xl cause i think it may be overheating but i have no way to find out. Also can some tell me at what temperature it should run at. Lastly i have a Pentium 4 Extreme 3.2ghz HT and that usally gets to temperatures of 78-82c is that ok or do i need better cooling.

uh ive never heard of a x740xl and those tempertures are normal for load that is if its idle then i recommend you get better cooling for that proccesor soon. do you have sufficent airflow in your case?

I presume you meant "X800XL" or "X850XT" since there is no such thing as an "x740xl" :p

You should be able to monitor the card's core temperature with the RivaTuner utility. Kind of ironic, since this is an ATI card, not nVidia, but whatever.

Anyhow, you should be looking at around 50-70 degrees celsius on the GPU and an ideal temperature for your pentium 4 is from 30-60 degrees celsius, although it is capable of running at up to 70-80 celsius.

In short, you should invest in some better cooling for your CPU. 70-82c is pushing the envelope a bit too much, perhaps.

Thank for that link but i can't seem to find the temperature on that program i can find out the Memory clock and the core clock speed.

Actully there is and x740xl but it only came with Medion pc's my Uncle got it with his but gave it to me since he does not play games.

I will get some better cooling for my CPU before it blows up.

Wow, you're right... a quick google search yielded 20,200 results, most of which were 'median' related. Good call. Must be a proprietary card built specifically for the company... or a rebranded X800XL or something. Strange.

Anyhow, I didn't find anything that would work for that specific product, but I wouldn't worry about it too much... the stock HSF should be fine, especially after you take care of the major source of heat in your tower...
