*Need Information and Pictures for Half Life Bestiary*

Just make sure that you put stuff into your own words, as those books are copyrighted.

Goes without saying.

If you choose to make an icon up, I guess you'd have to do something that is strongly related to that faction,

How's this for Xen Military?

That's pretty cool, actually. I think the Xen tree should represent the mindless Xenian life, too.

I'll start on some summaries this weekend.

You know it's all about the headcrabs!

Ok

Eventually i realised the headcrab could not be easily converted into a circular icon, so i opted for something more...circular.

^ Still on general strike for being left out of HL1 ^

crap. its down. $&#^*$&@

It may only be temporary, if not well need another host :/

Alright

Ok, Minions, I mean Goons, i mean Comrades... how are those summaries going?

I sat down to write something yesterday...

But then I had a few beers, went down to a pub, then down to a nightclub, and woke up this morning not knowing where I've been.

It'll get done soon; I've gotta switch to my non-coding computer at 1pm, so I'll write some then.

Lol, are you going to do any of the summaries, or are you just leaving all the work to the volunteers. :p

-There are two types of scanners, the City Scanner, and the Shield Scanner, yet you just listed "Sanner".

There was in fact, 3 scanners IIRC. One was cut from the game however, it was called a "wasteland scanner" or something like that :)

Yeah, the wasteland scanner was armed with rockets, or something. There's a picture of it in Raising the Bar, it's the big, spherical, fleshy-looking one.

Yes, I've started some write-ups.

Is this going to be a singleplayer guide or a storyline guide? For example, a singleplayer guide would tell you how to take on the enemies, which weapons to use and so on, while a storyline guide would concentrate on the creatures theirself, their origins, habitats, theories, etc.

Or will it be a mixture of both perhaps?

I'd prefer Storyline guide. It fits with all the Latin names. And my description of the Charger is written more like a biological report than anything else.

Okay, I've got a description done. I've signed it under a random alias; just remember to give credit to me on the 'contributions' page.

The formatting's a little crap, but you can sort that out on the web-site.

Fakky

Angry Lawyer- Hey catch me later, i'll buy you a beer!.... on second thoughts, maybe that isn't a good idea. :p

Don't worry, your names will be attached to the summaries, not just the contributers page.

SFC_Hoot- Obviously, i'm just checking everyone's writing their own.

Hmm i wonder how we're going to get Angry_Lawyer's summary up, should we do htm. files for now?

Let's keep each summary in a .txt or .doc file for now. The guy that's designing your website (Sathernut, right?) should get the database system going (or are we using Access, in which case, I should be creating the database?). Once the database is up and running, we can just keep adding summaries to it as they get written, and they'll be updated and linked on the site.

I'll do a description of the Kingpin later tonight, and possibly the Snapbug and Mr. Friendly (Whip Beast).

How deep do you want the articles to be? If you want, I can flatten the models out in an autopsy-table style, and add little pointers saying what each part of the body is, and stuff, or mock up some 'in their natural habitat' type pictures.

-Angry Lawyer

They don't need to be too deep, just enough to give people a good explanation as to what it is.

You can add little autopsy tables if you want.

I'll see if I can get some images done for my articles, then.

This thread's been kind of dead lately. Guess we're all busy. Angry Lawyer should be anyway, with his RTS mod - which should be amazing. Hehe, I'm really starting to like his one-man modding team idea. Makes a lot of sense to do it that way if you think about it.

Anyway, back to the site. Wilsonator, have you heard from your web-dude recently? Has he started the database yet?

no i havent.
i dont have any webhost to host a mysql database plus i dont know who to do that.

if anyone could give a ms access database ago maybe that might work although i am pretty sure they are only for small numbers of people to use, or maybe thats just for forums. I think you should make a database and well give it a try.

Hmmm, Access doesn't seem like the best way, apparently. We should try the other system, but if we completely run out of options, then I guess Access will do. But the bottom line is - we need some kind of database. I would be able to create the .mdb database itself, but you'd have to connect it to the site somehow. I hear Access needs Cold Fusion. Do you have that?

Go for it. As soon as I see some information on the site, I'll start writing more.

-Angry Lawyer

are there gonna be pics? i didn't see any in your site, oh and btw i can't reach "faq" and "links", temporary maybe?
