Need Opinion good free gaming OS

I know this might be wishful thinking, but is there any free operating systems out there that provide good support for most main line games and programs? I've been researching other OSs but it's hard to tell if i should go with a linux dirivitive or are there other options that are better.

My old copy of 2000 Pro finally died (the CD no longer is reading). I'm half tempted to just warez another and use my legitimate CD key on it, but I wanted to ask the guys here if they have any good opinions.

Oh yea the reason i'm doing this is cause i got a nice new 160 GB hard drive (my old one was 40 Gb), and i want to get it up and running.

Shuzer is right. Sadly it's the psychology which keeps it that way, but, moving on...

Um, no need to warez Win 2k. In fact, don't. MS has never put any copy protection on Windows or Office CDs. Just get a friend to burn you a copy and use your CD key as you suggested. This avoids the usual dangers of warez. If you did really have a conscience about this sort of thing (or were, say, running a business and needed to keep it 110% legit), then I do think that MS would replace the CD for about $10.

Damn, ah well i thought i'd give it a check. I would the the microsoft thing but i did sorda borrow the copy i had from my old workplace. So a legit copy, just not really MY legit copy. And none of my friends really have any good software, i'm sorda the computer guy of my group.

I guess now's the time to upgrade to an OEM XP Pro then. Thanks for the help.

Heh, well, if you have to spend money, don't default to XP Pro. There may be another flavor that suits you better.

Microsoft doesn't really mind people warezing Windows for home use, they would rather us use Windows than move on to OS's like Linux... I mean, if everyone that had warez Windows moved on to using Linux, Microsoft would no longer have the monopoly.

True enough. MS Office is their biggest money-maker anyway. Not any flavor of Windows. Ironic eh?
