I need some advice on what could be better in this paper or just let me know how it is overall. Thanks
Thomas Hobbes believed we needed government to maintain an equal and balanced life style for every human being. If there wasn’t to be an organized government, the world would be a disaster. The stronger would dominate the weak and the world would be run by corrupt groups of people resulting in violence.
Every single person would need to have what it takes to be able to defend their own lives and own prize possessions from others that would try and take it from them. Hobbes’ view on state of nature relies on the stronger dominating the weak. Therefore the weak would need to team up to defend themselves against the other stronger individuals or groups. If there wasn’t to be a government that controlled every single person, life would be consisted of complete freedom. Freedom in terms of anyone doing what ever they desired, however this would of course be for the worst part. People wouldn’t be living normal lives having whatever they wanted, instead others would be taking their own freedom away, whether it was to be stealing an owned possession of some sort or on a more harsh degree, rape or murder. Every country or community of whatever size has to be ruled by some organized group, whether it’s a small unit of people or it’s an enormous organization. The statement “might is right” refers to the stronger ruling over the weak and that its right for it to be that way. Someone who is mentally and physically stronger would try and rule over another person because that is how the state of nature works. According to Thomas Hobbes, man is ruled by competition, diffidence, and glory. When men are gathered together without any common reason, those 3 things go into effect whether they result in violence or not. If there was no government, everyone would be on there own; that is where the stronger vs. the weaker come in to the picture. If a humans mind is stronger mentally and physically, they could easily dominate the weaker more substantially than someone else that is just as equivalent as or better than them. Without a government, people would be lost in life, not knowing what to do or how to take care of themselves. Others would commit crime left and right while nobody would be there to stop it.
In conclusion, the world without a government would be complete freedom for anyone to do absolutely whatever they wanted. However, this type of freedom wouldn’t be the most pleasant or peaceful experience you would want to live with the rest of your life. Having a government is most definitely a good thing even though some laws may not seem right, but knowing it’s there and in affect is what makes it count.
