Ey, if your reading this then I appreciate the effort in clicking the post haha. Basically the specs below is a new PC im aiming to buy within the next 2-3 weeks, with that combination, are there any known issues / problems / conflicts that anyone can foresee?

CPU: AMD 64 3000+
M/B: Asus K8V SE Deluxe
RAM: 2 x 256mb DDR400 Kingston
VID: Powercolor 128mb 9800 pro
HDD: WD 160gb SATA
SND: Sb Live! 5.1
OS: WinXP Professional

Id ask if these specs will run HL2 or D3 good or not, but I already know thanks to countless similar posts :), that and a friend with a p4 2.8E, 512mb DDR400, 9600XT is running D3 at high res + detail, not the best fps, but very smooth and apparently fkn scary, we'll see haha. no game is gonna stop me from sleeping -_- ...

Any advice / info is much appreciated,

well - i suggest you buy 2x512 gig RAM instead of 2x256 :)

I bought a mushkin dual-channel pack for 270 €

the rest looks fine :)
 
I would avoid that POWERCOLOR card at all costs! I would go with an MSI for less $$$ and they use the R360 core so thay can be OC'd to XT speeds. You might also want to look into a Sapphire, because they are very good also. Everything else seems to be very well balanced. . . Kudos :) Have fun
 
hmm I've heard good things about powercolor??? for around the same cost is also: Gigacube / Gigabyte (the powercolor won in the 3 x 9800 pro shoot out review)

lol and it seems the way to go is higher than 2 x 256 sticks of ram, maybe i'll just put the money into 1 x 512mb corsair, and grab another 512mb corsair when the time is right, maybe 1-2 months. better long term effects.

I use the powercolor myself and i think it's quite good :) And when i look at some benchmarks of doom3 it might be ok in the future - but i consider buying an x800 later that year (if i can afford it)
 
Well there have been a lot of problems with Powercolor cards, I recommend the MSI one it's only $195 and it has pretty good cooling and is a 9800xt in disguise.
 
lol the MSI 9800 pro is a XT in disguise ey, thats interesting haha .. lately on this forum ive been noticing a lot of MSI troubles, mainly with motherboards causing havoc... thats why im leaning towards Asus for the motherboard department.
