I have a perculiar problem where the dos windows are not reading from CD's. This is a problem to me because I am trying to run some of my older classic games.

One of the games I am trying to play is LBA2. Even though it wasn't officially supposed to work under XP, I had once found a way to play it using the properties tab for the shortcut. This was a few months back, and I unistalled it because the drivable vehicle didn't work properly (you couldn't turn right).

I decided to install it once again and this time play through the whole game, however I get the garbled screen, regardless of property settings. I have even tried it under dosbox, yet it still doesn't work, though this isn't the only thing not to work in the dos environment (pratically all CD's don't work in the dos environment)

So in short I am asking:

-Is somebody playing LBA2 with a particular setting under windows environment?
-Is there away for my CD's to be detected by Dos?

There was a patch i found a while back to get Twinsen's odyssey to work in xp, but i cant find it anymore, google for it or ask on some game forum.

In dosbox to get games torecognize a cd just type "mount d d:"(assuming d is your cd drive)

Yeah, sorry about that, I had already looked at the cd help in dosbox before you replied. I now know how to save these settings in D-Fend as well. If only they made dosbox support more CPU types (and actually indicated what these types are, instead of asking you to provide number of cycles)

Well mate, if you have a problem, go to the DosBOX boards and post there, they're usually a helpful bunch, I went there and posted about a game frmo the late 80s that didn't work, in the next CVS, they added a fix for it, only after a week or two, very nice.

there is a patch to get lba2 working on xp. i know this because when me and some friends wanted to play it again [tried like 2 years ago] we had to find some patch.

The problem is trying to find it. I've googled it but its with people who are having problems with the patch

[edit]Just found an unofficial patch from twinadv.net I won't be trying it until tonight. If anybody wants to try the patch, you can download it here

i found my cd-r with lba2 on it but my dvd drive is acting weird so i can't look if there is the patch on it.

i should be able to fix my drive tomorrow.
