Yay for generalization. The US and its allied failed to take into account the sectarian realities when choosing to invade the country, and the policies post-invasion has done nothing to try to improve the conditions based on the reality in Iraq. That is that there are two religious groups, the Shiites and the Sunnis, who cannot work together as a unity. The invading powers acted as if Iraq was a homogeneous nation-state with a strong national identity, which isn't the case. The only way to have a long-time peace there is to establish two separate states, and the current policy by the Bush administration is not aiming for that goal, but instead trying to hold together a country with a population without any form of nationalistic traditions, and thus no structures at which to build a common state. The vast vast vast majority of civilians killed in Iraq is thanks to all these jihadists from surrounding countries sneaking in and blowing up bombs in markets and on buses. The US and the West has nothing to do with those and saying we do just shows how uninformed you Europeans are regarding the war...
