Terminator Combat Helicopter

I love this quote from msn

Remember that bit in Terminator Salvation where the Terminators flew around in helicopters shaped like their own skulls?

Neither did we, but this Terminator Combat Helicopter is designed around a T-800 skull (with LED eyes) nonetheless, and can do remote-controlled laser battle with up to three other choppers.

This Terminator Salvation mask thingy

also, I know, Terminator Salvation sucked, but the toys will give him more fun than the movie ever will.

Star Wars Comic Packs

Might get him 3 of these, if I were to go for them

Or do you think I should give him a movie perhaps?

What do you think I should get him?

Wall-e, if he liked it. And doesn't already have it.

Or Star Wars figures.

Get him a lighter, some WD-40, and a bucket of things to burn. I always had fun doing that when I was 8.

Surprisingly he has not watched wall-e or any of the pixar movies (far as I know, my sister isn't too helpful...)

Star Wars toys are what I would go for, but, that's just me. I'm out of touch on what kids want these days (and I know, you can twist that sentence)

Get him GTA4.

Can't get him video games at the moment.... don't know why...

My sister would kill me. But that does sound fun.

So you're saying if the option were open to you you could get GTA4?

Could: Yes, Would: No.

if he was into games, I woudn't get it until he's 13 to 15, because the mind numbing stress of secondary school/high school would kick in. and GTA 4 would be the best stress reliever.

But the game would be out of date by then, possible.

My nephew is also turning 8 and I bought him this:

the Bonzai Titan Blast Rocket, which is fueled by water! I want one myself!!!!!!!!

haha, that looks interesting, must have cost you an arm and a leg

no dude, it was like $25 at Toys R US on clearance. My mom saw a local tv show review on the product and kids loved it. I also got three $8 brand new 360 games there too. everything was like 75% off it was ridiculous. i got Stoked, PGR4, and Lost Planet Colonies Edition.

Legos. No question.

The helicopter is really cool, but it will break like the first time he hits something.

Get him some gasoline and Styrofoam.

He never stop having fun.

Kids these days like Bakugan.

I hate everything associated with the cartoon and the toys. such shitty unimaginative toys

that water powered rocket looked awesome

instead of buying him a movie, buy a theater gift certificate and take him to see a movie. he'll enjoy it much more plus you get to hang out with your nephew

You can then film it and give him the bootleg.

Good movie theatre experience + video to always remember it.

Give him an invaluable life lesson on life.

Something not really mentioned here, but considering you want to give him a bunch of film tie-in stuff, does he actually like either Terminator or Star Wars? Being one of the few kids who didn't see the later until I was well into my teens, I know that the out-of-left field Star Wars merchandise I occasionally received was received with as grateful a smile as a little disappointed shit can muster. That said, even if it's probably more 'natural' for kids to grow up not knowing Star Wars, or whatever, I was just plain rubbish with boys toys anyway, so I'll probably not give you the most 100% sane advice (I have a nephew, but I really want a Niece. I mean, how am I going to offload my Disney DVDs when I upgrade to Blu-rays?).

Of course, you could just simply get him the old trilogy (because, why would you expose family to the new trilogy?). Or the Pixar movies or whatever. It's a strategic play, since you can introduce them to stuff you can easily get merchandise for :p Stern's theatre ticket idea is a good one, so long as you go and see something enjoyable.

Any kid (past a certain age) will be most grateful with something they're best in tune with, not with something you think is cool. I think that goes for the rocket as well, even though it's a cool looking toy. Is he an outdoors type of kid or the kind who spends a lot of time indoors playing games or with other toys? I'd probably have more fun with that kind of thing now than I would have when a little on the reclusive nerdy side. And whilst it's nice enough to have the noble intention of getting your house-bound nephew into the fresh air, unless they're particularly close, Uncles and Aunts usually just get misinterpreted as out of touch when they do that kind of thing. I'm dreading when my nephew gets to that more questioning age and my sister's recommendation of 'books' gets me labelled as the kind but totally lame relation.

As with most helplife2 threads, the best answer is probably 'we're probably the last people you should be asking'. Your sister knows best what he's into, though your nephew knows best of all. Not saying you should plain ask either of them what to buy, but just try your best to learn enough about the kid to make the right cool. And then do the whole 'cool uncle' act on top of that.

Oh, and being the last of a very long line of children in my extended family, it wasn't long before my aunties and uncles just plain gave up and sent me money :p

Get Wall-E, and that terminator helichopper too.

Give him an invaluable life lesson on life.

agreed:

Lesson Learned: Respect your elders
teaching Method: physical beating till the point is clear
Materials needed for Lesson: black sharpie to write "respkt eldr" on fists

you can always ask him too. or just ask your bother or sister and they'll tell you want he wants. also its good for your brother or sister to make a list of what is available. my sister in law does this on facebook and most people just look at the list and go, "hey i can afford that!"

I'd go with Wall*E. His parents will thank you that you didn't get him a movie that has actual dialog in it. Like my roommate's nephew who watched Finding Nemo every god damn day and only spoke in quotes from that movie for two years. No exaggeration.
