I have a fx 5200 pci.....dont even say it. I know I need a new card, but pci is all i'll have for a while, so dont even think about suggesting agp. This new ati card tho, the 9250, is pci, has 256MB, duel ramdacs at 400 each. How much better, It has twice the ram...

explain...all the specs are better...and ati is generally better.....

They both suck, if you want to upgrade I would advise saving for a motherboard with AGP and then moving up from there, because your current card is probably as good as it's going to get with PCI. Don't waste anymore money upgrading PCI cards, that technology is pretty much dead.

NO! What did I say.....****! "pci is all i'll have for a while, so dont even think about suggesting agp." SOUND FAMILIAR?????

I just want to know if there will be a diference, b/c the 5200 is abysmal. What does the 256 do opposed to 128.....does it make less of bottleneck for my 760 ram???? And how about that xtra 100 mhz of stuff? How bout it...can I get get a real answer this time or will it be like every other time I ask a pci ques.......agp? I HAVE AGP ON MY FAMILY COMP, I want to max out my personal 1 w/o buying a mobo or somthing I cant install myself.

The 9250 is good for a PCI card. The two new 9250 and 9550 (AGP) are decent value cards.

All he was saying, is the only way to go up from there is to replace your motherboard (because you don't have AGP).

Although you should be able to do decently with that card in games. 128MB vs 256MB is no difference for that card. ;)

................ah what the hell, its a gift, I'll ask for it.

dont bother.... it wont run any faster than the fx5200... waste of time

Skipped over the forbiden words of 'FX 5200', didn't know you had one.
Yeah, it won't be any better than the FX card. Wasn't there an FX 5600 or 5700 that had a PCI version? That's the only time I'd recommend an FX card. :p

5500 is the highest fx goes in pci. Is that better than the 9250?

9250

5500

I also have no sound card...will a good sound card help performance more???? How bout a new hd? What will be best? (No mobo)

what is the rest of your system? It sounds old so a soundcard might indeed help in games, im not entirely sure though.

The 5500 is actually the same or I think worse than the 5200. Go with the 9250. But if you could find a PCI 9000 pro or 9100 online, those would actually be better, at least they were better than the 9200 so I'd guess they'd be better than the 9250.

Meh...the money he spends on that POS graphics card he could spend on a cheap motherboard from newegg...

heh i have the PowerColor ATI 9250 256mb *shrug works better than the severly overclocked GeForce2 i had hahaha

the game runs smooth for me [i actually modified the CFG to make it look even better than what u can do in the advanced tab] and i have a 1ghz Pentium3, and 384mb RAM har har....
mainly the problem seems to be with the sound setting..just set it to low and it runs better, and then set dsp_enhance_stereo "1" to fix those annoying clicks and sound studders
yeah im a poor biatch with only a PCI slot...for now...the 9250 is good for $100....ill upgrade later

... its better than what consoles can do...

The more memory will help with the game stuttering but will not help it process information any better obviously if that helps anyone.

I have this same video card and its better than what consoles can do.

The 3D graphics are what you expect from $130 card. You got a fair deal for $100

ATi 9250 256MB PCI

The extra 128MB helps, I should know if anyone would I also used to have the ATI 9200 128MB

You can play any Pentium 3 games, and you can play Pentium 4 games fine.

At the best graphics settings, it won't play smoothly
sometimes low frame rate -choppy on OpenGL games like Doom3

At low graphics settings it can play D3 smoothly 75% of the time.

This game, and games that are coming out soon are going to need a more powerful card and processor.

Have Fun

D3(The Graphics and sounds and gameplay are the best in the world that you can buy. Every Screen Is a Hand Made Work of Art.)

"Any other questions?"
watch out im scary
