And it is still going on! Tune into your local sports channel for the Wimbledon match between Nicolas Mahut from France against American John Isner. The score in the fifth set is now 45-46. Neither of the players has lost his serve so far. This set alone has been going on for over six hours.

EDIT Isner just scored his 90th ace, also a new record.

Tennis is aight, will go see.

Edit: ESPNU which I don't ****ing get. Oh well, time to play some games.

I wonder if it will be delayed again due to darkness. Either way, nearly a hundred aces for Isner, and approaching nearly 10 hours of play. Completely insane.

I'm hoping this gets delayed until tomorrow, just to see how the organizers figure out what the hell to do about it.

It seems they're talking about that right now.

EDIT The match has been suspended. Ten hours played now. 59-59.

Jesus...98 aces and a 141 winners for Isner. This blew the record for longest match ever out of the water by roughly 3 hours.

Holy good god. I don't even see how they aren't dead!

So, it's going to keep going tomorrow?

Why am I interested in Tennis all of a sudden? It's a sport I would usually just look at and spit on.

Finished 59-59 in the final set due to bad light, and its due to start AGAIN today. I cant stand tennis, but this has me interested.

Broken the world record for the longest tennis match ever in history. 10 ***king hours.

I bet they're secretly robots that have replaced the real players by the Wimbledon staff for a laugh, in an attempt to get everyone to come watch the tennis instead of the football.

Think of all the strawberries and cream that will go off if there arent enough customers!

But seriously, this is some extreme endurance.

Records that fell

* There were unconfirmed suggestions from the International Tennis Federation that this is the "longest official tennis match in history".

* It is definitely the longest Grand Slam match, surpassing the previous record of six hours and 33 minutes at the 2004 French Open (Fabrice Santoro bt Arnaud Clement).

* According to the BBC, the fifth set is the longest ever to have been played in a tennis match.

* It has seen the most number of games ever played in a match, beating the previous highest of 112 (singles) and 122 (doubles).

* It is the longest match at Wimbledon, beating six hours and nine minutes, set in the 2006 men's doubles quarter-finals.

* It has featured the longest set at Wimbledon. The previous longest was 62 games, set in a men's doubles match in 1968.

* It has seen the record number of aces served in a match at Wimbledon, with both players beating Ivo Karlovic's 51 in 2005.

This sums it up pretty nicely

I've always been surprised by the ridiculous amount of endurance, stamina and perseverance that tennis players possess.

I used to play tennis every week, and after an hour the fatigue is unbearable.

These guys average over 3 hours per game, and a lot of times under the sun. Now you get two players going at each other for 10 freaking hours non-stop. Absolutely remarkable.

This is some crazy mother****ing shit, bro

John Isner of the Untied States just won, 70 games to 68 games in the 5th set after 11 hours of play.

This match is going to end tomorrow with an immediate and entirely unsatisfactory double-score out of a deuce.

Ah, love it. Wish I had cable, the highlight reels of this match aren't up on Youtube yet.

It's pretty amazing how fast these guys can hit even after 4 hours, considering 2009 Wimby final. But 11 hours...unbelievable endurance.

Also, how is tennis not interesting? The action is intense and frequent.

Edit:

Isner isn't going to get enough rest to make it past his next opponent...1.5 or 2 days isn't enough for pro players who finish 5 setters on clay, even.

It ended today didn't it? Saw something on the daily show about it.
