C&C Kane's Wrath?
Of course, but now it's TIBERIUM time!

Reports are coming in that the January 2008 issue of Game Informer, already in the hands of some subscribers, is carrying a cover story about a new C&C first-person-shooter game, apparently titled "TIBERIUM". The scans (actually cameraphone or webcam pics) seen so far are sketchy, but it seems like it'll be a cross-platform (PS3/360/PC) game starring a single GDI commando, ostensibly named "Ricardo Vega", in a singleplayer campaign with squad mechanics.

I lost faith in C&C soon after Red Alert 2 got old.

There is also some rumor about Crysis engine for this game but I'm not sure if it's true...

There is a Dead-6 mod in the works for Crysis, which will cover the timeline between Red Alert and Tiberian Dawn, finally confirming that RA2 is in a very, very alternate timeline.

It's also endorsed by EALA.

Sounds similar to Renegade, which as I recall was poorly received, but I could be wrong since I never played it.

Renegade was okay. It was just exceedingly repetitive. A CnC game made in the same style with the Crysis engine would be sex.

*imagines horde of mammoth tanks crushing nod base*

Aaaah...

Renegade was awesome in multiplayer, though.

I don't know. I played through Renegade Single-player and I wasn't really dissapointed.

Then again I was like, 14 or something.

Multiplayer was fun though.

I remember Renegade mostly like this.

"Oh, there's a soldier."

Lines up mouse. *PEW PEW PEW*

Soldier goes BLARGH.

"Oh, there's another soldier."

Rinse, and repeat.

Renegade was a great idea but it was poorly executed. It doomed Westwood, who originally rejected the idea.

I haven't looked at the above link, but for ****s sake, I am tired of being a l33tk0mand0 in all of EA's singleplayer ideas. Let me play as part of two campeigns, one as a Nod rifleman in Tiberian Sun, and another as a GDI Light Infantryman.

DO YOU UNDERSTAND HOW AWESOME THAT WOULD BE?

What, in a series with an established commando group? You know, ALL FPSes have you playing as a l334k0mand0. The alternative is Rainbow Six, which really wouldn't fit CnC style at all. Westwood didn't initially want to do this because the technology of the time wouldn't have made a good experience. Now we can do it properly.

Besides, if you were a rifleman...

"Oh, there is a tank."

PEW PEW PEW.

"Oh no the tank is turning towa - "

BANG.

"OH MY GOD IT SHOT ME what I am not dead? But it just shot a tank shell through me! Oh well."

PEW PEW PEW.

BANG.

PEW PEW PEW.

"Why is it coming at me OH NO PLEASE DON'T RUN ME OVER BLAAARGH MY LEGS AAAARGH AARHG THE TERRIBLE PAIN"

Squish.

Another??

A Singleplayer at that. Renegade, while briefly fun, was just... I dunno, Westwood should stick to RTS

Would be cool as a Mutant Hijacker/Ghost stalker character.

You do know there's no more Westwood, don't you?

Much of the Westwood staff is working in the dungeouns of EALA.

As for Renegade... if it wasn't for the moronic decision to make it a cheesy over-the-top shooter (with red pajamas issued to Nod soldiers), the game would be awesome:

Logan Sheppard is WIN by definition.

I rather suspect the technology at the time would have made it crappy whatever happened.

I LOL'd!

ITT /r/ vids of that.

Seriously though, I would rather not play as another leet commando.

If you don't want leet commando, you either get something like GRAW or a stealth game. A stealth game would be interesting, but I'm thinking GRAWesque squad based combat with vehicular sections.

My thoughts are now in my blog (see sig)

:)

11 years after C&C3?

What the hell?

Not really. The SAGE engine was quite good at rendering large spaces, as well as interiors, not to mention...

Not to mention...

That's how Renegade SHOULD have been.

Whats wrong with that?

It should be like Renegade, slotted between/within the timelines of the RTS chapters of the C&C universe.
I don't want the next major developments in C&C story to come from a fps. Also I can't see how they'd fit in enough Kane, which is of course a necessity for plot advancement.

Ya but i could never stop thinking how much better it could have been.

WHAT? The mod is supported by EA?

It's the only mod that was announced on the frontpage, and from the wording it seems it's an official Crysis mod.

Uhh Tiberian Dawn has been mentioned on the front page...well via an interview with cncnation that is...but still :p

ANNOUNCED. Read my lips: ANNOUNCED.

In a *separate* newspost.

If they'd used a better engine, rather than foolishly creating their own. I've had full and frank discussions with some of the people responsible for that decision (and for implementing it, too) , and there's a general feeling that Renegade's multiplayer was accidentally brilliant but the game as a whole could have been done a lot better.

11 years after CnC3...

...

...

Not exactly sure what to say.

Renegade was amazing, ignore single player. I played that game online for hours and with friends from college it was epic. APC rushes. Stank / Flamer rushes. Mammy defensives or Orca / Apache counter attacks. Raping people with Sakuras / Havocs. I revisited it not long ago with TGB and Pi I believe and it's still fun. If it could be brought back to modern times it would be unbelievable.
