My new computer was delivered today, but I have hardly been able to use it. Whenever I turn it on, there is a horrible grinding sound coming from where the water block is on the motherboard, where I assume the processor is underneath. It'll stay on for around 5 minutes maximum, all the while with the grinding noise, and then just turn off because I assume it's overheating. Don't know what to do... I really don't want to deal with iBuypower's tech support, but I can't even figure out how to get this water cooling shit off the motherboard. It's a Coolermaster Aquagate Viva if that helps at all.

I guess basically I want to confirm that I'm screwed.

Czech your computers temperature to see if it actually is overheating.
Then dial 9-1-1 when your house starts burning.

Czech? Fikin lol.

Noise is most likely coming from; either a dry pump or pump which has gone bad.
Call the manufacturer for RMA.
If you must go back to air; you must get ready for the mess you may have or must encounter in order to remove/replace water system. You must find a friend who has done this kind of conversion.

Good Luck.

Yeah I managed to get the thing off and got that nasty white crap on myself...

It's definitely a problem... I doubt they're supposed to vibrate as much as this thing is, and I see nothing I can hope to fix... this blows. :P Wait, I WISH it blew, but noooo wanted the fancy crap!

Some cheap water pumps will vibrate and make the mosquito like noise even though nothing is wrong with it.
But if system is shutting off, this could mean heat; your BIOS is set to shut off system at certain temperature.
Why not RMA or just upgrade the water pump?

Good Luck.

Send it back FFS. It's not rocket science. "Brand new PC sounds like coffee grinder, then shuts down. Whatever shall I do? What possible way could there be? Have I been ripped off, and will have to live with this problem? If only there was some law about faulty goods......"

And don't even TRY to fix it, or they will say you opened it and tampered with it.

Wow, thanks for the insight, jackass. I'd never dealt with water cooling before so I've been learning, and I wanted to confirm the problem. They're already sending me a new one, and no, they didn't say I tampered with it.

Fikin lol.

Hey Stucco you better layoff the frequent talk down, that arrogance of yours once in a while man.

And don't try to come back with "Or what?" because that will make you sound even worst than what I have described of you. ;)

If you can't help; like the wise-man said "silence is golden" :afro:

Take care.

Or what.

Don't try to prevent someone from replying to your false sense of importance and authority by telling them not to reply "or youll look silly lol!!!11111one". Idle threats and stupid things like that make you look like a tool, and as you seem to be concerned about labelling people like that, take a look at yourself first. At least I gave a reply and suggestion that was relevant to the topic. You just posted to try and tell me how to act etc. Take some of your own advice, and "stay silent".

Stucco you're arrogant and idiot and, you're headed for permanent ban if you keep up the good work.

Good day.

By you? BAAAHAHAHAAaaa. Mods just LOVE people telling them how to do their job by people like you. It's an insult to them, and says you don't think they know how to do their job.

Besides, YOU'RE the one who has posted nothing but flames and insults at me in this thread. At least I posted on topic, and presented a solution to his problem. Just because I wasn't perfectly diplomatic about it doesn't give you the right to start flaming or making idle threats.

But please, keep flaming / making idle threats. It underlines my point about who is actually causing trouble here. Anyone just needs to picture this thread without you posting in it to see that. You started the argument...

Ahhh, the Shasta of the hardware forum. Hooray!

Yeah, at least you're getting an RMA. That's bad luck to get it shitty like that :(

Ahhh, the Shasta of the hardware forum. Hooray!

Yeah we have Shasta situation in the hardware nowadays.

His Sig says everything about him; he sure doesn't want to be an American idiot, but he sure is an idiot of different type.:|

Anyway; I do apologize to HL2.net staff and mods about this...I'm out of this lame off topic nonsense.

He can take a week to re-evaluate his attitude and throwing his weight around. Please stop inciting him further, when there is an issue just report it or you can follow him out the door. Lets cool down and throw water on this, sadly Letters can't with a broken water cooler lolol

Yeah like I said before; please do accept my sincere apology, I did kind of lost my temper there too.

I'm taking a cold shower on this :)
