Heres a rig Im saving for, plan to have money at or before late April 2004. I have a part time job and am under a budget here, so keep suggestions realistic. Also, I'm using my current sound card(soundblaster Live), monitor(17" KDS), keyboard(Logitech Inav),mouse(Logitech mx700),and video card(Radeon 9600) and speakers(Logitech z640).

Antec Super Laboy
Lite on 48x24x48x16
Antec all clear 80mm smartcool fans (x2)
Mitsumi floppy drive
Maxtor 120 GB 7200 rpm 8mb buffer ATA
Kingston hyper X 512mb DDR PC-3200 400 mhz
Asus nForce2 ultra 400 mobo "A7N8X"
Antec P4(?) 350 watt PSU
AMD Athlon XP 2600+ Barton 333MHz FSB 512K cache

So? Good, or could be better for around same price. ($652 American)

P.S. Im from Canada.

Looks good, but did you mean XP 2500+? The 2600+ isn't a Barton series chip, nor does it have a 512K cache

/me smacks self on head

Duh, I shoulda double checked before I posted that.. oh well, was late at night :)

you might wanna get a 400wat psu just incase you ever upgrade your video card or something.

OK, so It all pretty good then? I was wondering about the power supply, It says P4 in the name and Im getting am AMD rig, is it just a coindecince or does it have to be a P4 system for that PSU.

Personally I would go for a slighty faster CPU but less expesive ram, I currently have a xp 2800 with 2 x 256mb unbranded ram and havn't had any problems. Also make sure your motherboard supports dual channel memory and buy two 256mb sticks of ram to take advantage of it, not just one 512mb.

I plan on getting another stick of ram later on, another of the same kind, so Ill use the dual channel then, Youll need 1 Gig later. Im planning on OCing that CPU too, so Itll be faster.

no and next year they are changeing the pin arrangement on the new AMD cpu's so it's best to wait till then to buy a 64bit computer.

Cool beans. So should I wait till next year and a new 64 bit comp, or upgrade now and then buy a new mobo/CPU then
