GameMeca have been lucky enough to get their hands on some exclusive, high resolution screenshots of Counter-Strike: Source; Valve's conversion of CS to the Half-Life 2 engine. You can find the links to these below.

I think they're looking great, with the exception of that terrorist model possibly, but I certainly can't say I'm not looking forward to this.

Thanks to BlazeKun from our forums for posting the information.

Yay. Ingame shots..
*Shuzer sheds a tear

Bring on the gold announcements! I want my HL2/CS:S!

I just realized, shot 1 and 2 are taken on havana.. looks nice :)

Those screenshots look nice, but I think the source engine is capable of alot more. I hope it's because they're not spending too much time on CS:S so they can really show off some awesome things in CS2.

We will only see things getting close to source's capabilities in 3 years time, just look how HL mods kept getting more and more advanced.

But by then Valve will have updated Source even further, so we'll be having a great time for many years to come :D

They look ok... I thought we would be seeing better though. Valve keeps scaling everything down. Nothing looks quite as nice as it did before the leak and before E3 2k4. On the second shot, the hands of the terrorist are a block with a thumb. Come on, thats pretty much what they did with HL and CS. I don't think they should cater to the people with crappy machines. It should have everything in it so that high end users can get the full experience. I don't want to miss out on 5 fingered hands, HDR, high resolution textures, and dynamic lighting just because a lot of newbs have old hardware. Time to upgrade n00bs, it has been for 5 years now, don't ruin it for all of us.

Don't get me wrong though, I really appreciate the fact that Valve actually let us see these and they are getting close to release. I just really want my features...all of them. I haven't waited this long to play a game that had a lot of its cool features removed due to the majority of people having old DX6 crap with an 800 MHz CPU or whatever. ;(

EDIT: The Aztec shot looks pretty nice though. I'm just making a point. The shots still look good to me, I was just expecting...more.

Pretty nice... I cant wait!!!!!!!

Go GOLD already!!

Not too bad, looks like it could be better when it comes to the T model.

Also, in the second screen with the CT running and shooting towards the T, did he just get out of his scuba lessons? He is still wearing his flippers, silly guy.

I agree with Moto X-Pat though, I would feel like I upgraded my computer for nothing if that's the game at the highest quality, my previous machine could have handled that well enough.

Oh well, I still can't wait for it :)

Certainly not (at least for now) up to par with the graphics standards nowadays. It looked a bit more flashy in the E3 video, including the physics and all but.. I'm dissappointed. And, that'll be *exactly* the same game than HL1:CS, with new graphics of course, so I couldn't be less interested. Bring on the more original mods! I really, really want to see something else take off well than lame remakes of old popular mods.

Boo, CS, boo!

That's partly why they have to be careful. The differences between CS and CZ are minimal at the moment. I'm pretty sure Valve won't want to do the same again where in CS:S will be great but CS2 is only a bit better.

That's probably why they'll be reluctant to include fully drivable vehicles etc. They need to save something for CS:S

Sign of a good game:

Bad screen shots = awesome when in motion

Also, the screenshots are of bad quality, even though they are in high-res. The location look clearly ten times better than the models - and valve said that their models are 4 years old and are working on enhancing them pronto.

Are these hosted anywhere else.

I cant view the pictures because they have the word 'game' in the link.

How come you guys cant upload them?

The news script isn't working for some reason. I'm waiting for StarMonkey to come online so he can fix it.

Hmmm..

I am a bit worried that all the ver. of CS will dilute the player pool, and in my little community theres not much of a pool to start with.

I mean lets look at it so far.

1.5 - yes there is still a server for that - Steam haters + its still a load of fun
1.6 - The main CS in my community
CS:CZ - Small pool of players here but theres rumours CS:CZ will be the official league ver. so it may grow.
CS:S - 1.6 on steriods ? So far a graphical update (mostly enviromental) a few barrels and fancy water splashes - ok for a free addon to HL 2 but not a buy to play.
CS 2 - ???

Personally I think CS:S/ DoD:S /AnyOther:S ought to be a free downloadable (or packed on the CD) and the CS 2/ DoD 2/ AnyOther 2 should require purchasing...its not like anything really significant is being introduced to the Source variations, plus the devs. even said a conversion wouldn't be too hard (from HL 1 to HL 2 engines)

oh... the pics look ....well the models are nothing spectacular but the enviroment looks ok.

1.5 is being closed down before the release of HL2.
1.6 and CS:CZ players will mostly be getting HL2, I'm sure.
CS:S will be packaged free with HL2 but likely be on sale as a seperate package.
CS2 is unannounced so far.

Everyone will be buying Counterstrike Source, even if they dont buy HL2.

That is why valve are releasing it as a seperate package, so they can cash in on the people who just want to play high graphics counterstrike. Good on em.

RELEASE!

sheesh, you guys go all like: yay, look at those splendid screenshots!...wow!

these screenshots look terrible. i mean, look at the first one. i haven't seen such a conehead since tombraider. and the second. his head looks like a darn alien from star wars!...

anyways, this looks darn stupid. you guys all hyped up and shidazzle. im far from hyped up... no offense to the environment, that looks totally cool. but i think this really needs an overhaul, cuz im not goin to play star wars mixed with rainbow six (version 0.0001)

I think they've said they'll be updating the models.

In fact, the models in the E3 videos look better than the ones in the screenshots.

Looks crap really, like a minor graphical upgrade from HL1. You guys would think a pic of a red pixel and a blue pixel was cool if it had a HL2 watermark on it.

As long as the gameplay is good and there aren't millions of cheaters I'll probably play it.

I don't know why everyone is getting pissed at the poor models. Valve said they are updating them, and even if the updated models suck, then the communtiy will certainly release high quality high poly models. But the release of screenshots sends the message to me that Valve is VERY close to being finished. BRING ON HL2!

Yes, Gabe even said in the interview that models of HL2 and CS:S were made 4 years ago - for 4 year old models they sure look heavily detailed (at least the HL2 ones). Best yet, they are going to update them before release, so imagine full model goodness!

oh, i never heard they got to be updated.
but why post 4 year old screens then?

and yeah, if something needs to be changed in CS:S, it will be locking the config or system files from tempering with. c'mon, fast reload isn't fair you know. really pisses me off.

I think it'll look better in motion :D They look better than it does now. :D

The models are 4 years old - not the screens. The environment and background textures are in the present condition and they look very good IMO (look 50x better in motion).

why would you even release models that look like that, and how come the cs mod team isn't doing better? or does valve work on it? neone look at tht riddick engine? blows source AWAY

Calm down guys...breathe..breathe.
Valve is just giving us a taste of CSs, it obviously isn't complete. Anyone who thinks source isn't capable of detailed realistic player models hasn't seen E32004 vid. Wait till the game comes out before you declare it a failure.

Yeah, screw source - I mean you are right what does it have anyway compared to riddick.

Oh wait - valve doesn't like to cover there models in oil to make them all shiny so that gamers get horny.

the models on this screenshots looks Ugly!! Very Bad develpoing

Cool! another CZ update! :)
hey... wait a sec... THATS NOT CZ!!!!!!!! :O

Poor. No better than the first Hitman. The only inprovement are telegraph wires and flare from the sub - big whoopee. The Aztec temple thing is terrible - a few piled blocks. Very dated.

Ya cause soo many games look better at the moment.

I can't believe some of you people. One person says the T model sucks, then you all jump on the bandwagon. The T model is actually pretty decent. Although the CT models look a lil dodgy...

I'm going to have to agree with you that aztec looks like crap. However, havana looks bounds and bounds better than the aztec screen. Disregarding the player models, as it's been pointed out before that those models are very very old.

Anyway, they've been progressively making aztec look like crap each and every update, it's a trend :)
