Take a look guys.... sounds interesting... also a few improvments for teain which is a nice thing :D

If they keep bringing out updates like this For CSS, then I might actually be forced to upgrade my pc. I currently play 1.6 as Source doest work the best :(

Might give us an excuse to actually use radar :|

I'd rather make it harder. The names appear slightly too fast for my tastes (think it's meant to be 2 seconds or something, but seems faster). It'd be good if you get their name up AND say "Enemy spotted".

But this is nice. I really love the core gameplay as it is, so am hesitant about any significant changes. I do however trust VALVe completely, so Let's hope it works out for the best.

meh the update isnt that thrilling but valve roxxx updating there game content.

They keep adding HDR to maps I don't play...the map I really would like HDR for is de_piranesi.
I like the radar thing but I wonder if the enemy will stay on radar only as long as a teammate is looking at him.

OH.MY.GOD. Actually mature posts on this forum, not people flaming Valve for changing something. <3 Upper management.

This is an interesting idea. No doubt it will have an on/off button so there's no point in bitching about it.

From the sound of the news post Valve sounds like they are going to be changing up some of the gameplay in the future.

I seriously hope they go against the hardcore naysayer grain and really add some significant changes to mix up the gameplay.

I haven't touched CSS in over a year. The game is just way too old.. I was expecting new gameplay at launch but here we are two years later and just finally hearing about it possibly happening.

I think this is great news, and look forward to seeing the other team appear on the radar when spotted. To me, even an ad banner would be better than the old radar.

If it were up to me, you would have Battlefield2-style spotting of enemies, allowing for a far more tactical approach to the game, relying more on team cooperation to find the enemy (as real swat teams do), and less on army-of-one roaming and hunting with your twitch skills.

I know what you're saying, but I think delayed name-tags would only cater to the super-hardcore. Many noobs and even not-so-noobs have a hard time distinguishing the teams, especially with all the new player models, and the many too-dark maps, so, if anything, faster name-tag display would help. You wouldn't want to exclude people who aren't already uber players, by making things overly difficult for them. I can see many a noob having to stop and stare down each enemy, trying to "get a lock" to see what team they're on.

new cs:s updates sounds good to me, for a minute I was thinking they were pretty much done with cs:s :D

I thought the radar was helpful enough. You just gotta get a feel for where other people actually are instead of just a relative direction from your position. Their disappearance always indicates where enemies are. You just gotta keep an eye on it to see where your team is at any given time. It's doable.

Damn... uuuhm..

Lolz, VAlVE Suckz cuz mi raydar (More like Gay-dar LOL) iz how I liekz it. VAlVe Don now wot there doing wid css. I cud do a betta job, LOOLZ!!1111!

Dario, you make a good point, and I agree.

Well their not stealing ideas from BF 2142. It will assist in telling your teamates where campers are though which is great.

The way I see it, is that if this enemy blip on the radar shows up longer than even 2 or 3 seconds, it's another excuse to add to wallhackers.

"OMG wallhacker! stop wallhacking"
"$hu7 up n00b, i s4w y3w 0n my r4d4r!"

It kind of defeats the purpose of wallhacking. People are going to use hacks regardless, but this evens the playing feild. It gives those of us that do not cheat an advantage over those who do.

Well, with wallhacking, cheaters are guaranteed an advantage. The new radar only gives you the advantage if you have a team spotting enemies.

For example, 1 vs 1, neither has a teammate obviously. Who gets the advantage? The wallhacker. The same can be applied with a 5v1 situation. The lone hacker needs his wallhacks to find the enemy. Though that DOES even the playing field just a little bit, people are always going to hack. Especially ESP/Wallhack, etc

Where are these 'hackers' that you all complain about so much? I've been playing since the beta of CSS, and I've seen one definate cheater, who I promptly banned from my server.

If you Americans get so many cheaters, I suggest you move over here. The grass is greener. Or just move server. It's an easy choice.

wow, and i thought they had stop butchering cs.. oh how i was wrong.

valve, leave cs alone, please.

It would be good if the enemy blip on the radar stayed on for as long as the player had a line of sight on him. And it slowly fades away when sight is lost.

the first thing that came to my mind about hacking was they're going to figure out a way to trick css in to always showing thier enemies on the radar. it wouldnt show up on replays and would be a bitch to stop. that why the SHOULDN'T DO IT. otherwise they could like do something with the recording of replays, but I dunno.

I've played CSS since the beta as well, and I have run into several hackers. Some wallhack, some aimbot, some were just terrible hackers, or terrible players that got lucky headshots (Which I promptly respond with a full-metal jacket to his skull the next round)

Radar hacks already exist. Not very well, but they exist.

It's really just better to ignore people you think are cheating (unless it's obvious like a speedhack with spinbot), since a lot of the time it will be a really good player. When they're doing it just to annoy someone, best thing to do is either ignore them or leave the server. Don't pull to their bait.

I used to admin a server, and when you meet someone who's either really good or cheating (killable is usually not cheating), then the best thing isn't to ban them, it's to message them privately and tell them that they're a little high skill for the current server, and they're losing the server owner business (players on their server are the sole reason to own a server. No players = no profit), and they should either tone down the ownage, or leave for a better skilled server.

Yeah, **** you Valve. I want to play the very same game I've been playing for 6 years or so. Change scares me.

</sarcasm>

I'm looking forward to this addition.

No, I like changes, as long as they are good [for gameplay] - this isn't, it's just the continuation of 'dumbing down' CS, like what has happened with a lot of games, like Halo2, Q4 and so on.

The skill factor is [of course] still there but it's being ever so slowly killed off.

I don't like to take the stand point of "LOL 1.5 IS THE BEST AND NEW VERSIONZ R EASIER FOR NOOBS" and, I'm not, but having the enemies [temporally] on your radar.. come on.
