New Day of Defeat: Source Movies and Screenshots

I'm so excited, Can't wait for it. Just pre-ordered it. But then again after school there will be a 2 hour and 30 minute wait. It will be here in Nebraska at 5 PM. ;(

Just Downloaded The Game Omfg I Cant Wait Yeaaaaah Go Bucsssssssssssss

Edit - Now that was quite anti-climatic, with all the lower-case letters and such...

Suicide / Chris_D... what did you use to record the videos?

That middle picture is beautiful. Can I have his computer?

The HDR is just plain crap. It would be great otherwise, but what makes it crap is the fact that it is adjustable, it can be turned off. Just take a look at this pic: http://www.halflife2.net/news//1127675566_dod_anzio0002.jpg
The HDR reduces your sight so much that the players who don't have it will have a significant advantage against the players who use HDR. This means that no one is going to use it. I'd love to see a good looking new DoD with HDR, but it seems that it won't be possible without getting pwned by everyone.

Fraps? You n00b. You should have demorecorded/frame dumped and made a nice spinky AVI from that.

wish i could shake your hand man. he has a good point. i know HDR is to make it seem so much more realistic, but i mean, whats more important? realistic or fun? think about snipers for example. they become godly if they find a part of the map where the sun is right above them. the glare would make it impossible to see them at a distance, and theyd have a perfect line on you. sure thats great and all, but its a bit 'unfair' regarding how fun the game is.
and like Korp said, everyone will simply take HDR off because there are going to be loads of people that physically cant make use of it anyway, giving them an instant advantage. its kind of a waste. valve have interpereted a great advancement of their graphics engine, and for graphics in general as its never really been done before, but its still futile when the MP aspect is so competitive. lightning reactions make or break a fps game, and to have a huge glare on your screen just because you accidentaly looked at the sun gets you slaghtered, isnt exactly the kind of thing most people will want when trying to get in the server's top10 players.

Anyone else getting problems since the last Steam update? I dont want to be the bringer of 'bad vibes' but I predict that the launch of DoD on the morrow will be a total **** up for at least 50% of the community!

I was starting to warm to the idea of Steam recently (always been scpeticle. especially since the HL2 launch **** up) & I was about to pre-order DoD but since the latest update seems to have renedered my Steam games knackered I don't think I'll bother now - I'm having thoughts of the HL2 launch all over again & It's not good ;(

had the same problem in Counter strike, its affecting Nvidia cards i guess, fix it by doing "mat_dxlevel 70" in the console (it will be set default at 90) and that should fix it, dont know if you will need to do that in DOD.

And on a topic related note, those pictures look gorgeous, i cant wait to hop in a 6pm, see ya there

Didn't have enough time for all that. I basically made the decision to get a Bittorrent tracker up and do the movies all in the space of about 30 minutes. It was a spur of the moment kinda thing.

I have got a great guide from Valve on how to do BINKs though. Will do that next time.

It's exactly the same process that I referred to (except with the BINKisation at the end). Works a treat.
