Hey, I thought that rocket Gordon launched in HL1 was canon....

Can anyone confirm what that rocket did?

It says in Wikipedia that the Rocket was launched in order to reverse the resonance cascade. Looks like it didn't help that much, since the Combine invaded the earth and all.

The thing is if the SuperPortal is closed in the end of EP2 there wont be anything climatic in episode 3. Since the combine are effective blocked off from calling any reinforcements the rebels would just pick off the remaining combine resistance and get total freedom. This scenario would have worked if there was some kind of Combine stronghold left on earth which could still dish out some massive damage to crush the resistance but, as far as I know the Citadel in city 17 was the only such thing. The Synth boss would be cool though...

But it really doesn't matter what we think. Its what Valve thinks that matter.

We have no idea what happens in episode two. Wait for it too come out before you make silly judgements like this.

@shadow : Yeah, but it would seem like City 17 citadel was the most important Citadel because as you say it maintains the portals of other citadels and what not. So the big boy is down. Plenty of combine are still around of course...

Oh yeah, that was in decay. I totally forgot. Anyway, yes, it is correct. But I don't know if decay can be considered canon, it was from gearbox anyway

I'd say the Superportal is futile. If a Citadel can project a portal even after its destruction, I see no reason why a citadel somewhere else in the universe couldnt tunnel through to C17.

I don't know. Remeber that the combine only had access to earth after the cascade resonance and the portal storms. It looks like they can't teleport to earth so easily as you think. The earth citadels portals(as kleiner explains in his kleiner cast in episode one) have been disabled, so they cannot simply port in. I suppose they have to use the superportal, or else it could be years before they can tunnel in in our dimension.

Yeah - as far as we know, release date is sometime this fall. There really hasn't been much new previewry, just rehashes of old stuff.

I really hope it's on track, if it is delayed any longer it might be released during my exam period and I don't know if i have the strength to resist...

If it stays on track it will be out after my exams but if it is delayed again then it might reach my 6th year exams.
