New errors in HL2 and mods

I loaded up Steam today to play HL2 and updates loaded. I also installed the metastasis mod. Now when I go to play a mod I get an error message "missing modname.infotext". And when I play just HL2 the loading screen comes up ( an in game pic) but then loading eventually stops. I have an emachines 4160 with 1.6 ghz cpu and a 64 mb Ati 9000 video card. And no I cant upgrade due to current circumstances. Thanks for any help.

Not to be rude, but there are many other threads already related to this topic. Do you feel the need for instant gratification of your question without going through the bothersome process of looking at the front page news, or just glance at the first few threads?

Please use some common sense and critical thinking BEFORE you post.

I didnt see any threads in the posts in several pages. I coud have done a search I guess, but since there wasnt anything at all mentioned and the update is relatively new (I thought) I thought it was not a common problem. Sorry, my mistake.
