This is getting worse then I thought. I seriously can not believe people care so much about something like soft-shadows and dynamic shadows. Graphics are complimentary of gameplay and I hope that is the way it shall remain as you all should. Some of you guys are are making me wonder if we're going to be watching games in the future or playing them.

Dude, relax the **** out. I've played a ****ing text game for 8 years, i'm not some sort of graphics whore.

But the game was advertised in its developemtn to have gorgeous graphics and especially shadowing effects, and so bitching about its removal is no less valid than bitching about any other element of the game. Graphics can be just as valuable in gameplay than other elements, because they immerse the player into the world more seamlessly, helping in the suspension of disbelief.

Why aren't people allowed to bitch about a great game losing its graphical appeal when they were advertised the SAME great game with all of the graphical appeal.

Like I said, chill the **** out in your overreaction to people being upset about the graphics reduction.

All I'm saying is to listen to yourself. You actually said you wouldn't get this game because something like soft-shadows/dynamic shadows weren't implemented. Ok, so they said it would be implemented but it wasn't. I'd be terrified if I was a developer and had to actually consider losing fans over something like soft-shadowing and dynamic-shadowing.

I'm just trying to get some sense into you about what you actually said. Don't take it offensively rather just think about it 'cause if you really meant it then maybe you should go watch a movie instead.

I'm neither a graphicwhore, and I never stated that I wasn't going to get the game due to the shadowing issues.
I've played ASCII RPGs, called roguelikes, for years, like ADOM etc, they make up for their graphics with their deep unsurpassed gameplay, and even better is that most of'em are freeware.:)

As I stated previously, if the gameplay is up to the hype, then it's all good, albeit nothing will ever be able to surpass Ultima 7 and/or Daggerfall imo.:)

I also said I wasn't entirely serious.

Prince of space, they could've left an option in for it tho imo, for when the computers become fast enough to run it with softshadows.:)

They could also release a patch.

bigburpco, I doubt that, you see, they decided to scrap the ENTIRE dynamic shadows engine/code and rewrite it entirely, adding it later in a patch would take a rather large rework of the entire graphics engine as far as I can understand it.:)
And they'd also need to write the entire code for the dynamic shadows all over again <3
